Hi guys any of you old hands know where I can buy a pair of ear defender/fm radio sets that I saw people trackside with last year? Ive looked around the net but cant find any?

You could use a small radio with in-ear ipod style headphones and put a set of ear defenders over the top.

yeah bud had my little sony sony fm radio n / headphones but could not hear bugger all when the cars were going by !!!!!!!!!!!!! bloody porkers ! guy next to me at tetre rouge virage had the proper race jobbies

Ali that's why you have ear defenders as well.  If you're somewhere noisy you put your eardefenders over your radio earphones. 

If you just buy those blooming great eardefenders posted above you'll have to wear at least one ear all of the time, if you have separate earphones and eardefenders you only need wear the eardefenders when it's noisy.

Make sense?  Makes for much less sweatier ears that way!

And get the ear pieces that hook over your ears and not the push in type, there less painful after several days use.

The new bud type headphones that are more like earplugs work very well, they cut out a lot of outside noise and are much more comforatable. You can get a pair of Phillips ones for about £20 in most High Streets. They also have a fantastic frequency range for those Audio junkies out there.

I dropped my nice little sony radio in a bowl of water whilst attempting to cool my feet down!!  (we're having a pool this year!) and it wouldn't work so I had to buy one of the ACO's finest radios - it was CRAP as it kept losing reception.  Word to the wise - take a spare radio don't rely on having to buy one at the circuit! 

On a side note my little sony started working again after it had dried out!

Listening to some of the shite on Radio Le Mans these days is painful on the ears anyway, with or without the use of ear defenders.

My little Sony (should that be Pony?) radio still works well after 15 years of abuse, and I bought a spare last year. 

Its the headphones I have problems with.  I use an old pair of "HiFi" type headphones, which keep most of the noise out, but are getting old.  I'm not paying £60 for a set of Peltors, so have obtained some of their best ear defenders off ebay for £12, but the in ear phones never fit my ears, so I'm looking for something a bit bigger that will fit inside.  You then have trouble with the wires.

We always have trouble with radio reception.  I think the French LM station is too close.  If I turn my head it changes channel.
