Aaahhh - Motors TV is not on Cable (telewest)  and its not FTA on Sky.

Never mind I'll just have to watch road to lemans - 2005,  11am on Saturday one of the discovery channels I think.

Assuming we manage to DVD it OK I'm happy to lend the DVD to anyone who wants it or wants to produce copies of it.

If someone can teach me how the hell to copy them I can have a go at copying it!!

I'd be more than happy to copy it and help distribute if required. That way I can get a copy for myself ;) What format DVD does your recording system use?

I may be able to help on the copying front too - what kind of recording kit do you have?

Dont rely on the Highlight show. Motors TV highlights are usually poorly edited ie they show all of the first few hours and then cut to the podium.

Technically it is only 1/2 a race!!!!  ;D No it is a great race but surely thay can spare 12 hours!!! plus a 1/2hour for the presentations.

Actually I prefer the 12 hour format over 24.  As a friend memorably said to me once, 24 hour races are usually about 22 hours too long!

I knew someone would get technical - I don't normally play the girl card but I'm a bit thick about this stuff!!!   ???

According to the front of the machine it takes RAM, -RW and -R, we normally use the -R's for things that we want to keep.

Is that the right answer to the question?

As for copying I've got the DVD player/recorder and a PC with a DVD writer - last time I tried to do this the DVD player in the PC didn't recognise that the DVD that had been recorded had anything on it!

We'll record the whole lot and not just the highlights.

Sounds about right to me.

I thought a computer would play any DVD.  perhaps one is VHS and the other Betamax?

I'd love a copy.  Will pay costs etc

Well, I'm a man, 36 of age, and I can't figure out those modern technology-things either. I'll give it another try on Saturday, but might just go back to the ol' video to record it analog :-\

I wish everyone fun watching it though, whether it's there, live on tv or via live-feed. For those of you without Motors or Speed, please check those websites with live-radio. It was fun for me listening to the Daytona 24 a few weeks back 8)

OK, slight technical hitch here guys!  We're going to be away over the weekend and there is 10.5 hours of coverage on and according to the machine even on long play we can only record just over 8 hours onto a single DVD.

Sooooo my current plan is that I'll record the beginning and the end and lose 2 hours in the middle somewhere in the hope that they'll repeat it all at the end anyway!

Anyone else going to be around who can record a chunk of it or sky+ it and record it off later (we don't have sky+  :( )

I'm going to try to Sky+ it, but don't ahve a DVD recorder (yet) so will maybe have to tape it to VHS and pass it to those that can, unless of course Mrs JPC decides that as I haven't gone to Sebring this year I at least deserve a DVD recorder!  :-\
