Kids?
« on: June 05, 2003, 09:36:16 am »
As we have had a few drop outs for the event.I am now considering taking my 13 old son.
Those of you who have taken your offspring previously, might be able to give advice on "do I or don't I".

Any comment please

Do it. My lad's been with me nearly every year since he was 5 and loves it. We're both pi**ed off this year cos he's doing his GCSE's at the moment and can't come.

I've never worried about him with such a bunch of friendly folk at LM, or any other race for that matter.

So take him and have a good time.

PS It's good to have someone who remembers where the tent is too!

Two words - Do it.   Three words - Do it again.   Took my lad when he was 14 for the same reason (previously booked passenger dropped out).   He (and I) had an absolute ball - he spent the week walking round with eyes bulging out on stalks and a grin so big that chewing on lemons couldn't wipe it off!   Good Dad-son bonding stuff, particularly if he thinks he's tough and keels over after a couple of 33cl bouteilles of biere.......

I was 14 when my dad first took me. Loved every minute.

There is a lad (16 or 17) who is a regular at the Centre where I work, I said the computer suite was closed for just over a week as I was going away, he asked where, so I said.

His reply "Oh cool, my Dad goes every year". "Why arent you going?" I said.  "Dunno" he said.....

My Dad first took me when I was 16.
It was (and still is) the best week I have ever had away.
My little lads nearly 3 and im already planning to take him in a couple of years.

Slight reverse, after my first year, I took my Dad down there, only thing I was 22 and he was, well, that didn't matter. We then went every year for the next 5 together, he loved every one of them.

He then stopped going for a few years and last year returned with me to the Classic event, we are already talking about next years event now.

Do it, he'll love you for it and as someone else said, great for father - son bonding!!!

Thanks to you all for the support and encouragement!!!

P.S. Could'nt keep a secret and told him this evening.

The smile and "KOOL " was worth it'S weight in gold.

I told him he would have to put up with his dad being "Pi**ed* and acting like a child for the 5 days. ;)

But at least he can be your guiding Beer Angel. That unseen force that gets you across 7 lanes of carriageway without getting hit. (according to roger Mellie)

We took our daughter to the Classic, she was 11 months old and not yet running around. She really enjoyed it, even the 1:00am trip to Arnage, she only complained when there wern't any cars to watch!
She's a bit of a handful at the moment  so she's staying with a friend, but she'll probably come with us sometime in the future.

Take her there for a 16th birthday treat. But you'd better book the camping NOW just to be sure...  :-\

We have a youngster that comes with his Dad (think he is about 10), enjoyed last year and coming again this year.  Bit of a sod when he wanted to play football and the rest of us were totally bollo##d..........but apart from that no problem at all.
