FIA Gt Silverstone
« on: May 08, 2006, 12:39:09 am »
Hi,

Got back from a good day out at the FIA GT race at Silverstone. Mixed weather with it raining early on but stopped about halfway through the GT3 race. Started again later but stopped for the start of the FIA GT race. The sun came out, the track dried and it got warm enough to shed the wet weather gear and walk about in just a t shirt.

The GT3 race was quite good with a field of 43 cars. Plenty of Aston DBRS9's and new Vipers.

The GT race was quite eventful and i saw plenty of spins, not least a frantic few minutes at Abbey when a GT2 Ferrari dropped hydralic fluid  on the racing line in the braking zone. There were cars spinning for fun and the Carsport Corvette took avoiding action and got beached in the kitty litter for about 2 laps.

I bumped into Rick Cutler almost quite litteraly when I went and stood next to him and didn't even notice it was him. Sorry Rick, had my head in the clouds taking pictures.

The race was won by the vitaphone MC12 #1.
