S. Rhino,

My last race buggy was a Jetta TDI. I easily got 600+ miles per tank of diesel and could drive to most races with the change I found in the couch. Unfortunately, the VW electronics let me down and I was stranded with a defective alarm module for six months. Loved the TDI when it was running, but VW customer service couldn't have been any worse. I had to get the local TV station to run a story to shame VW into finding a replacement alarm module.

I miss the TDI, but I hate the idea of sitting road side trying to explain diesel combustion to the local wrecker service. My present race buggy is a 2.4L Honda Accord. I have a Mazda Miata MX-5 for a back-up when needed

In Europe we are more used to Diesels (actually the UK is playing catch up to the Continent) so road side service is less of a mystery.
VW spares can be slower even over here compared to the Japs and Ford and GM, but no real issues.
