How to add your own Avatar or Profile Picture
« on: May 19, 2006, 02:48:58 pm »
Hi, now this is a real thicko question, I know and nothing to do with the Le Mans (for once).  How do I add an avatar to my profile.  Being pretty rubbish at this computer stuff and not having a web-site, I can't figure out how to download it. ???

Upload your pic to one of the many photo-hosting sites - I use muchos and photobucket - thse are both free of charge.  Make sure the photo is not too large.

Then go into your profile by clicking 'profile' near the top of the CA page, then click on 'Forum Profile Info'.  In there is a 'I have my own picture' button.  Check this button, and add the URL of where your piccy is.  Save the amendments, and Bob's your Auntie.

Go to your profile by clicking on the'Profile' button at the top of the page.

Click on 'Forum Profile Information' in the Modify Profile' sidebar on the left hand side of the screen, then click on either 'Personalise Picture' or 'I have my own pic'.

If you select 'Personailse Picture then select one from the drop down list or, if selecting 'I have my own pic' type in the url of the picture you wish to use.

When finished go to the bottom of the page and click on 'Change Profile' and hey presto!

Hope this is helpful.....

Looks like DelBoy beat me to it

If youre not into photo hosting sites, insert a picture on a dormant CA thread, and by using properties, copy the URL address into your profile.  First you need the right picture at the right size. The thing on the left is 200 x 150 pixels, which seems to be about right.

Make sure you resize it to an appropiate size though.

It looks like the address for the pictureis wrong. Download the picture you want by right clicking on it and chose 'Save Picture as'

Then send it to me at

stu.robertson@blueyonder.co.uk

I'll then send you an address to put in your profile

I have been using pixpond to free host an avatar for me. they are now gonna charge for this.

Not being up to speed on all things concerning computers can anyone tell me how to get a URL for my pic that I don't have to pay for and that will be pemenent on my profile and not need refreshing every couple of weeks
