Three hours drive I understand.

It will probably take about 3 hours to walk from the bottom start finish straight to the top of Skyline though !

Like some of tou guys I was thinking of going but there seems to be an even bigger yob culture than at Le Mans

http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89516&page=5

Might just have to go to Petit instead or Spa or go Beaver hunting, after Sebring, if Smokie and Gab have left any Grin Grin

Ive driven round the mountain (it's public road) a couple of times, it's about an hour and a half from my father in laws place. (About 300 kms west of Sydney, over the blue mountains, which are gorgeous.

Definitely a pilgrimage to do. They ran a 24 hour race there a couple of times in the recent past as well, about a fortnight before or after the 1000.

However I have been warned that the racegoers are 'bloody animals' but I've camped in HA, they can't be all that bad.

I think we're planning a family holiday the year after next, and I intend to take in the 1000 or if the timing is out, one of the eastern creek rounds.

Actually, the fact that it's a bit of an unpolished crowd makes me curious. I've read a story in Top Gear Magazine on massive fireworks and throwing burning toilet paper, making impressive light lines in the air but they can also land on your head if you don't watch out. It's an event for the hairy chested, so much is sure.  Grin
