Hi All - and (soon) Happy Newyear !

I would very much like to upgrade the forum software - something I would normally just DO at some seemingly dead hour of the night, but this upgrade needs to mungle about in the database for some time (up to an hour or so, it claims) so I'd better post a warning before embarking.

How active do you expect to be eg tonight?  (forum-active, I mean, - don't start telling me of your other activities :-)  )

Fran

I intend to do my tax return tonight, any help avoiding distraction would be very welcome.

That is ok, We can switch to www.drinkingforholland.nl for a couple of hours.

I will be there as well as sebringfans.com

Rick.

Well, the forum looks pretty quiet right now.

I guess that a lot of them will be spending the final saturday night of the year down some dodgy old pub.

I say go for it and I bet the bulk of the users won't even notice what you have done  ;) ;D

Happy New Year.

Lawnmower Man

Personly I  think  if you just put up a page to replace the forum saying it in teh process of being upgraded adn will be back at XX:XX it shoudl do thte trick

Not that I'm aware of, - but it should make us less vulnerable to the attacks of the bad guys.   I have already upgraded my little Matra forum (matrasport.dk/forum) with apparent success.

I'll let the website-statistics system finish its (heavy) use of the servers RAM and CPU, and then set out to do the upgrade.

I'd rather go to forum.drinkingforholland.com then Rick. ;)

Do your worst DJet, I'll keep an eye on all the busy posters on the DfH forum. ;)

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

DJet

ok, making backups now
upgrade starting in 2 minutes

DJet

Weeee!

We're back in business again.

Upgrade took its time, but seems to have done no harm ... which is good, I suppose :-)

I have also replaced the copyright with an image (with the same content) as I know the most popular way to locate a vulnerable forum is to google for the (required) copyright.

I don't mind showing the copyright, but I hate leaving the invitation in Googles database...

Enjoy our forum, and  please report odd behaviour... well odd behaviour that COULD be explained by the upgrade in this thread.

(This time of year I'm sure we can see a LOT of odd behaviour, but keep it to forum-behaviour which might have been introduced by the upgrade - ok? :-) )

And HAPPY NEWYEAR everybody

I'll get some sleep to be fit for fight tomorrow - ahm tonight. (I'm in the UTC+1 zone, i.e. 02:35 am)

Good work Djet.

Thanks for your (late night) efforts.

It's all appreciated.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.

Great stuff Djet,

I wonder how effective that will be.  It will take a long time to purge google of the cached stuff.
Plus it all get blown out the water if they google for say "some forums permit guests to read and post".

I guess it's just some thing we have to live with.

BTW,  Do you know there are still some problems with the DNS for Club Arnage?

One problem is that the birthdays have popped back onto the calendar!  Happy Birthday Liszt by the way.
