I once saw a wierd Ausi film ( i was half cut at the time- so have no idea of its name) from what  i could make out, it was set in some backwater town where alien zombie types had taken hold. The hero tore about in a mad Bedford HA popemobile cum ice cream van with lifesize cut outs of the Beatles in the window above him. It was very low budget and very silly- at one point our hero scoops his own brain back in after falling off a cliff. Ace!
Does anyone know what its called? Or was it just a Strange dream?

Bad Taste. Peter Jackson's first film shot for 25000 dollars over three years with his chums. Won a major prize and the rest is history. Followed by Braindead which is even gorier! Lawnmowers rule!

Both excellent and highly recommended.

Nice one- are they availabe on DVD?
On the subject of obscure Aus films whats the one with Nick Cave in set in a maximum security prison in the outback? Great film but cannot remember its name. I think C4 showed it a few years back.

Yes they are. Try Amazon.

I suspect that the Nick Cave film is probably Ghosts... of the Civil Dead. Circa 1988.

HTH.

That is probably because I gave up television three years ago. Bad Taste really is superb. Watch out for the green vomit! Ditto Braindead. Both dvds are really cheap. Why not order both, invite a few friends, invite their girlfriends and then open a book on who will throw up first?

Evil, but fun.....

Even though Redezvous wasn't a chase, it was a renegade film certainly. Thoughts?

How about adding DUEL to the list.

Well, not quite a car chase per se, but car chased by an 'king big dark brown/rusty lorry.

Not a car chase but a chase anyway......

Steve McQueen on the bike in The Great Escape.

However changing the subject a little bit to chasing the World Land Speed record.

Have a look at 'The Fastest Indian' with Anthony Hopkins. True story and a good film to watch.

The soundtrack is almost certainly dubbed over the top, and you get an unrealistic impression of speed from the low mounted camera.

As for Bullitt, the soundtrack's a GT40, not the 'stang, and IIRC the car manages 13 simultaneous upshifts in a row - that's some gearbox  Grin

Both still good tho'
