Oulton Park Gold Cup, won by Sir Stirling Moss.  1961.  Gotcha!

Born in 1961, December,  but conceived at Sebring back in March (9mo's)

Gotcha right back.

;D  As my mother wouldn't be seen dead near a circuit - this wasn't going to happen to me!  Oh, I forgot, first drove down the N138 in 1961 too (well, was driven actually!)

I was there!! I live in Chester and cycled to the race. That was my first year on the circuits but I can't remember any races before that.
Small world, eh?  Lancashire lass myself.  It was the first big meeting I went to but I did go to Rufforth and Croft quite a bit too; also the hill climbs at Harewood and the odd GP but that wasn't until '65.  We can have a nostalgia trip at the circuit!

Sounds good, I got to Croft for the first time in '65, also Ingleston as by then I was in the army at Carlisle. The first GP was in '64 when two of us hitched to Silverstone aged 16 !!

hope nobody minds if I stumble back on topic

Just returned from the Ring, left 1 hour before the finish just as the sky got dark grey again. Met hgb, Martijn and Sandy. Jesus, I hope the weather will be better next weekend

Cheers everybody, see you soon

Let me stumble back here: I did my first foreign visit to a car race in 1969, the annual MG Car Club racing event at Silverstone. Beat that!  ;D

  • You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.
