Llama, llama and more llamas.
« on: November 28, 2007, 01:09:43 am »
Now I have to admit that I am not particularly fond of llamas. Unless they are served up as roasted or barbecued in which case I think an exception, and plenty of gravy, is perfectly acceptable.

My question therefore is: What is about llamas on this site? A lot of members seem fascinated by these furry ....... things.

Am I missing something?

Lick up the honey and ask no questions.

Bit late getting back to you on this.

When you post, your "status" is automatically shown under your handle. For newer users this used to be set to something like "I am a llama". I guess that's what you were referring to... (Made me realise that I still had a reference to it in my profile, now removed)

I shouldn't really tell you this but google will give some clues if you look.

It's derived from the derogatory term lamer.   Some early word processors didn't have the word in their dictionary and would offer llama as the correct spelling.  So the use of the word Llama came about.  As Smokie says the older version of the forum software would put "I'm a llama" in the personal text.  Thus if you were/are a lamer you would not be able to work out how to remove your "Lamer" label.

Get it?
