Can anyone give me a link or advice finding a website for rail travel to Le Mans from Kent?

Thanks.

Thanks for that FS.

Its not for me, but for a friend who will be travelling from Kent and wants to come down but might not be able to travel as early as me on the way out only.

Will get them to check out that website.

Any major British railway station should be able to do the booking or give info'.  If your friend ever uses a London terminus, then the easy way is to nip into a travel centre.  But the Ashford/Lille/LM option is not as good as it was - only really one decent service a day - since the Eurostar terminus moved from Waterloo to St Pancras and far fewer trains stop at Ashford now.

That's no bad thing tbh, Ashford's a bit of a dump.

They could mooch about the ports and try to hitch.  Isn't Bob's spare (time travelling) seat any use?

Very possibly - although he will only be looking for one way.  He just contacted me last night about coming along, so its early planning stages so far  (some people just dont realise you are supposed to agonise about your plans for a minimum of 11 months).

Have a look at http://www.raileurope.co.uk/eurostar/ Unless Asford is much more convenient, enter Ebbsfleet as the departure station - it's in Kent off the M2 not far from the Dartford tunnel and it's replacing Ashford - along with Le Mans as the destination. Crossing Paris Gare du Nord to Gare Montparnasse is a doddle so long as you're not overloaded with luggage.
Total journey time is 4 to 4 hours 15. Cost should be between £40 and £65.
