I think they show bits of the different Royal standards. I like them too, but I can't help thinking they could have made space for poor old Britannia somewhere.

I like them too.   Modern and in a way a unified Design,

Though as AZ said it's a bit sad that Britannia will no longer be on the coins.
I wonder how long she has been there.  Getting on for 200years if not longer I think.
Gone too is the 5 pence's Scottish connection.  Up until decimalisation there were two shilling coins in circulation.
The English Shilling (Three Leopards) and the Scottish Shilling (Lion Rampant).

Perhaps they should have waited a bit longer till Charles is king then we could have Britannia on the obverse instead of him.

While I'm thinking about it may be they should bring back the Wren from the Farthing and use that on Pound coin.  They are worth about the same.

Not sure about you guys south of the border but we've been getting different notes here in scotland for a few months now with places like castles and things on them. They look nothing like the older notes but pretty cool all the same.

Sounds like they are softening you up to accept the euro, they have buildings and things on the back.
