« on: June 05, 2008, 12:39:41 am »
hope this is of help for those that will be going through Rouen in a few days time, it is the route that I use, and is the route that is used in the CA Guide, the maps come from the via michelin website.

FS,

I know there was a posting earlier for a fast track through the piage on the autoroute, I can't remember where it was. 2 hours queueing up!

But with all recent goings-on taken into consideration, I am thinking of avoiding that, is the main piage north or south of Rouen?
At my age, it takes me all night to do what I used to do all night!!!!!!!!!!!
Then, growing old is compulsary, but growing up is just optional.

I don't do GREEN, I've got a 4x4

The main problem last year was the return leg with the queue around the junction of the A28 with the A13 - at the bottom of the the last map above. The "solution" (which could turn out to be just another traffic jam!) suggested was to exit from the A28 earlier - south of what is shown on the bottom map - and approach Rouen on the old N138.

However this is route is just as likely to get jammed! I've been in similar situations before  - Hit queue on M6 north of B'ham. Off on to the A34. Hit queue. Off on to some B road. Hit queue. Off on to side road .... etc etc... Before you know it you driving down a farm lane with grass down the middle! Which then crosses over the motorway on a bridge. Only for you to look down and see a free flowing motorway. Tomtom makes it too easy to get into this pickle.

However - I encourage everyone to turn off the A28 (and I'll stay on it and fly through the peages  >:D )

What time was the queue at the péage?

I don't need to be in Dieppe until 23:30 Sunday night, so aiming to leave the campsite around  19:00/20:00

Should I use J13 of the A28 at Malleville & detour off to the west?

Thx

On the first map we have always turned off at junction 8 just over the river in Rouen and followed the D18e which has always seemd fine to us, traffic wise and also straight forward

I agree, the 'eastern route' D18e (for me at least) has always been relatively traffic free and hard to get lost or go wrong.

news on a lorry fire on one of the bridges in Rouen this morning
http://www.franceinfo.fr/faits-divers/rouen-un-camion-citerne-rempli-d-essence-en-feu-sur-un-pont-de-la-ville-785051-2012-10-29

What are the chances the heat would damage the bridge and if so would it be fixed in time for June? it's the N28 bridge  :o
