Is it still the case that you can drink quite legally on the British railway system 24/7 - could this not be an obvious development of this?
It depends on the 'train' operator.
Any LT trains/tubes/buses etc, No alchohol policy.
Thames ferries, a very open policy.
SWT no policy.
All 'long haul' trains have a buffett section that sells the dreaded juice.
If you want to test the system, just take a bottle of your prefered poison and drink it. Just take the consequences as well if caught without complaining.
Remember that 'A***holes' break the law, inteligent folk BEND the rules.
