You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

Mrs U asked me last night what I wanted for Christmas this year. Last night I didn't know, tonight I do.

A good price too.

Mine arrived in the post yesterday, and so far I've only watched 1980.  I didn't know any footage existed

The Wifes watching Morse.  I'll have a quick look at 84 & 88 on the PC and report back.  More Gin too

These are the Videovision tapes  Neville Hay does most of the commentaries. They are not as clear as modern DVDs but better than VHS.  There is the occaisional sparkly

88 is the Non Radio Le Mans version, so its not blurred with the color running away.  Excellent, and nearly as clear as the current stuff

84 includes my favourite moment in Le Mans history - Vern Schuppan selling the dummy to Roger Dorchy at Mulsanne.  This is an action shot, so looks a bit blurred, but the white lines are clear

83  Good quality, and the lead nearly changes hands on the last lap.  Good night shots of the cars and funfair

82 is far better quality than 81, almost up to current standards, with Bell, 956s and the Ford C100 etc

81 is More Neville Hay, and a good video with a Bell win, and a 917, but the quality is not as good with the odd line across the screen and high contrast.  It is a 27 year old master

80 is colour, and a very early bit of video.  Its starts with an interview of an American team (perhaps they paid), but has wonderful footage of the race, even though it looks like they only had the one camera, which they keep moving.

All in all excellent, and well worth the £50.  It's 10 seperate dvd's too, with similar front covers, and a couple of paragraphs about the race on the back.

This is probably a better picture of Dorchy's Hero to Zero car.  It looks a lot clearer on TV
