So if Ferrari did spit their dummy out and chucked all their toys out of the pram !

And they did do Le Mans, would that be good or bad?

They won't being doing that whilst the rules are tilted towards those horrid oilburners. I'd love to see a red screamer win though.

OK - here we go - what would happen if Ferrari made a diesel?

and raced it! - Well ????

...and then we all woke up...  ;)

Neil, never in a month of sundays will Ferrari do that!

I personally cannot understand the ACO's fixation with burning filthy oil, particulate capture or not, technologically it is not the way ahead or the fuel of the future. Maybe a switch to KERS would make for better racing? Anything but compression ignition, it's a blind alley.

When KERs or any other type of emerging fuel needs an image change, then I guess the the car makers will push for rules written to favor them.

Oil burner technology has advanced hugely over the last 10 years, I never thought I would have one as I now do, but weather its be due to racing improving the breed or not, it can't be denied they are a viable alternative now in most situations.

I doubt Ferrari will be building one anytime soon, but I expect the other supercar makers to do so at some point.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Ferrari say this is no bluff.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8049316.stm

(Board member Piero Ferrari) revealed that Ferrari could race in another category if Mosley did not back down.

"Why not?" he said. "I strongly believe that if you look at the past of Ferrari, today's image is born from victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and sports and GT racing. Racing is in the DNA of Ferrari."

Le Mans - the how you get there is not quite as important as being there.
