Should I do it???

As some of you may know I am a time served joiner and I have been in the same job for 7 years now 

Although the job is ok im not sure its what I want to do forever.

Im not tied down with a mortgage or loans or anything and im 24 so....

The chance has come up to try a 4 year mechanial apprentiship with spirit aerosystems at prestwick airport.

Im probably just looking for a push into it here though

From someone in light blue, we're very short of them, as are the civvy companies are short of them.  At 24, you might want to think about testing the water with the uniformed side first (RAF or AAC) - all the training and licensing comes with it at no extra cost and the money is good fromt the outset - if that doesn't appeal though then go the civvy route.

Did my apprentiship at BA - LHR - only building and plant section, should have use it more but it was good.

If your getting training and in these times of hardship and unemployment, what have you got to loose?

Mike, just do it, you know it makes sense, as long as you can take vacations in June, think you will be fine.

My advice is to go for it, with things the way they are at the moment you will have a safe job for the years you are training.

Once trained up, my advise is to go contracting, hopefully things in the industry will pick up buy then, its the only way to make good money and see the world with outer people paying you to do it.
