I went into Thomas Crook today, cos i only wanted a couple of hundred Euros they quoted me a rate of 1.06,  so i walked out!  The rate is on the way up slightly,  so i'll see what happens at my bank, the post office and M&S.
Of course I buy green cars, my Aston is green, my MGB is green, my Disco Sport is green,  oh, that's not what you meant by green?

The Mrs got some at at a Bureau de Change last week, and got €1.05 and a £3 commission.

Todays paper says €1.09, so its rising, but look out for the extra charge

The Post Office appears the best option. (by experience)
At my age, it takes me all night to do what I used to do all night!!!!!!!!!!!
Then, growing old is compulsary, but growing up is just optional.

I don't do GREEN, I've got a 4x4

I wish I got commission for these people, the times I've recommended them.

http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/

Currently offering 1.1255, no commission. You'd be hard pushed to better that. Only problem may be minimum order is £300.

I've used them before and am using them again (next month) for dollars.

But it also seems to take them 10 days to deliver! - We'll be in France by then!

I'm with Leftie, the PO online rates are pretty good (Just checked - 1.1096), no commission, and no delivery charge for £500+ AND they deliver NEXT WORKING DAY.  ;D

I often use Travelex online - no commission, guaranteed rates, and you pick up at a Travelex desk of your choice (at many ferry ports, Eurotunnel terminal etc - there's even one at Ashford Truck Stop, which was a laugh last year - ours was the only car in the place and turned a few heads). Currently offering €1.1082 to the £. Don't think there's a minimum order either (well, unless it's £50 or something). www.travelex.co.uk.

Newspaper misprints from around the world:
"After the boat had been secured above the wrecked galleon the
apparatus was set in motion by the captain's 18-year old daughter,
Veronica. Within an hour, she was yielding her treasure to the
    excited crew."

Never had that problem - you tell them what day you want it delivered and that's the day your money arrives.

Also if it is of any help to anyone, Which Magazine did an article on currency exchange this month.

The article can be viewed online if it helps Clicki Ici

They changed up both Euros and Dollars, plus general advice on using cards etc.

I know we're funny foreigners, but we both get our pensions paid in Sterling. We have a Nationwide account - and if we use a cash machine over here to draw euros on it, we get the BANK rate applicable on that day and time. Not the tourist rate, not some funny number, but the rate quoted on the Foreign Exchange sites - and no charges, natch. Anyone with a Nationwide account might consider this as their cheapest option.

When we lived in Kent, Termie found the Post Office was the best way to get a dollop of euros at a good rate. That may or may not be true today. She generally had to give a day or two's notice - but the PO was very obliging.
