Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The (Unrelated To Le Mans) Joke Thread

HMRC has returned a Tax Return to a man in Evesham after he apparently answered one of the questions incorrectly.
In response to the question: 'Do you have anyone dependant on you?', the man wrote "2.1 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crackheads, 4.4 million unemployable Jeremy Kyle scroungers, 900,000 criminals in over 85 prisons plus 650 idiots in Parliament and the whole of the European Commission".
HMRC stated that the response he gave was unacceptable.
His response back to HMRC was "who did I miss out?"

Doesn't it say the tents and camping etc are included? I assume you camp on the Audi site, no? True, and I guess I wouldn't need the jump leads, WD40 & Duck Tape either? The £250 beer money on the other hand.... Provided the beer comes from Britain, that is. Not in the R8

No thanks!
+1 Much as I would be happy to park an R8 next to my tent the boot isn't big enough to fit all my clobber, I would need it from Sunday 10 June for 9 days and my co-pilot lives in Norwich and isn't available for filming before 4 May. Apart from which we are guaranteed to fail any screen test and as real fans cant wait until 25 May to make our plan for this years pilgrimage. Indeed logistics are sorted and packing has already commenced! Then again if I already had the keys I would make an effort to select a new co-pilot who is more likely to pass a screen test! Appreciate you are part of the crew, not the competition planner, but 13-18 June isn't even a whole week! And it is ironic that the co-pilot is not allowed to aim the thing!

I was assuming OP "arrange" = Aire d'Accueil Arnage. As per A.C.O. it really is Wednesday - a check of the CA Guide in fact we have 9am. In the past extra nights have not been available for Arnage - unofficially is a different story.

Officially Wednesday 13th June morning. Typically around 8am. Arrival any time Wednesday it is pretty easy to find a single pitch, by Thursday evening things are getting tight.

Club Arnage / 2012 / 2012 tickets available via ACO

Yup, we had our crisis in January as apparently no more camping tickets available. We got sorted, but just to confirm ACO confusion and French logic reigns, I just noticed that the official ACO Billetterie now has Vert - Houx Annexe & Karting Nord Rouge - Expo Bleu - Nord & Sud Jaune - Arnage, Mulsanne, Beausejour, Dairon and Pincenardier Available here. (If you are an ACO member or want parking/tribune tickets you can hopefully find your own way around.)

Also felt Arnage was a little quieter: didn't particularly check but in previous years come Friday lunchtime there are normally several new arrivals driving round looking for a firebreak to pitch on whereas this year didn't notice any such overflow.

Congratulations on that P2 win, Tim! Fantastic to see #41 circulating pretty much like clockwork although I imagine you had your moments! Q. What was Tim Greaves’ first job? Nope - methinks you were wilfully misleading us in your answer to that one, but thanks for the miniatures!

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: rumours rumours glass bottles banned inside circuit

Down at Arnage it was complete confusion. The normal gate guys were absent Monday/Tuesday and so a couple of rookies were trying to enforce several French regulations that clearly didn't make complete sense to anyone.
1) As always Arnage opened officially on Wednesday. When we arrived midnight Monday it was "closed" despite the 6 or so hardly regulars already in place. At 8am Tuesday we were allowed in - while we were pitching the guy came over to explain Arnage only opened "tomorrow" - sadly all my French had left me by that stage and after waving at the folk who had pitched on Monday he departed.
2) Not much later when we we using a couple of cans of Carlsberg to assist with the erection he returned to explain no alcohol was allowed on site. By this stage one of our French folk was with us (having been told at the gate Arnage was closed but when I waved he was allowed in!) and by the time the Securite chappy left it seemed beer and wine were OK but not stronger alcohol. We were happy to confirm we were only drinking beer (at that stage!) and resolved to secure our 26 bottles of single malt on site rather than risk a car search next time we passed the gate.
Yeah - we were aware of Enceinte Generale restriction on weapons (including glass bottles), as well as Aire d'Accueil regulations entitling Securite to look at the contents of any vehicle. (Arnage campsite is technically outside the circuit.) We did decide our bottle mountain should be restricted to wine bottles and was thus somewhat feeble as we figured putting whisky bottles in could be construed as taking the piss. Especially after realising while we could Tippex some of the bottles from 40% to 0% we would still have a problem with the cask strength and others that were 46%, 46.3% etc.
Our group does contain several native French, none of whom could explain what the rule actually was (either before Aperitifs or at 4am when they were speaking fluent English!)
