Title: Sebring 2010 Post by: Bob U on November 02, 2009, 12:16:39 pm After being asked a few times on Saturday night if I was going to Sebring 0r not next year Mrs U is now insisting that I go ;D.
So here it is the Sebring 2010 thread. Who's going and when? Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: smokie on November 02, 2009, 01:31:41 pm As per this year, I'll probably be in Florida, but depends on other lures as to whether I get to the race or not.
Must say, I need less persuading than George! Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: LangTall on November 02, 2009, 06:19:03 pm I'm planning on going, already looking into flights once in a while. :)
Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Martini...LB on November 02, 2009, 06:32:54 pm They should be starting their sales soon, looked today but not on yet.
Not sure if I am going, I want to and have a pass but a little undecided, not sure about the time off either. >Martini...LB Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: chop456 on November 03, 2009, 08:25:32 am Going.
I also have 2 hotel rooms near the Orlando airport Wednesday night, if that helps anyone. If you have an air mattress, you're welcome to pull up some floor and join us. :) Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: died_laughing on November 03, 2009, 09:18:02 am I'll be going.

Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: tn*c on November 06, 2009, 05:40:45 pm BA Sale now on but prices higher then last year so waiting on Virgin Atlantics sale.
Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Martini...LB on December 04, 2009, 10:26:50 am Well the sales have not really taken off as previous years, but, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon.
Although I do not think I am not going this year, I have still been looking at prices, sad I know. The upshot is I have found £346 from London which is pretty good, this is at www.skyscanner.net their car hire is pretty good as well £98 for a compact. >Martini... Anyone got spare MB Classic tickets? Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Andy Zarse on December 04, 2009, 12:38:43 pm Anyone got spare MB Classic tickets? Anyone clear on what Cutler R. and Every M. are doing this time around? RV again? Happy to offer myself and 'the boy' for local taxi duties and bed and board (for those I know real well) up until the Thursday preceding race weekend. As usual, I gratefully accept PG Tips tea bags, Sure roll-on deoderant and Resolve, in exchange for services and goods rendered. Sadly, I think my work schedule may rule-out another River Ranch adventure (nor have I been ivited back, more to the point!) - but we'll see. Chop - PM me with your O'town hotel details and I'll make sure we don't miss each other this time. All the best everyone - safe travels - see you next month - going to be a good one! Hi Matt I don't think Rick has confirmed his flights yet, but I am flying in on Friday 12th, together with Woollyu who is one of The Brethren who is doing his first Sebring. His cousin lives in Lakeland so I'm not sure whether she's picking him up from MCO or whther he's heading to River Ranch. Gish has been on the road a lot lately but hoping to catch up with him this weekend to confirm his plans. So 95% certain I'll be at the FoF on the Friday evening. Probably heading straight down to River Ranch that night, but if Gish isn't getting there until the Saturday then I mayt well take you up on your very generous offer, subject to supplying the necessary UK products of course!! :-) And I'm sure you are of course invited to River Ranch, I think they've just not got round to individual invites! Some cheese perhaps, sjmoke and a waffel, bong and a blitz, Crepe and a sjigar? See you at the racetrack, is the boy bringing his poison again? Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: smokie on February 06, 2010, 04:02:41 pm Outbound to Orlando on Virgin VS015 on Wed 17th - anyone else on that one?
With a hectic schedule, including the obligatory near-week in Key West, I've not yet worked out quite where Sebring fits in - it could be that I just drop in on Saturday, primarily to say HI to y'all, or it may be that I come directly there from Orlando on arrival for the Wed night. I know Chris is thinking about doing the shuttle launch on the Thursday, is anyone else? Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: knetter on February 06, 2010, 10:07:36 pm I am considering it, but not sure yet!

Some cheese perhaps, sjmoke and a waffel, bong and a blitz, Crepe and a sjigar? See you at the racetrack, is the boy bringing his poison again? Hi Roy I'm guessing you have rental car etc organized - as suggested by Marius, do you envisage stopping for a quick beer before heading off to River Ranch? If so, let me know and I'll have Jay (owner of FoF) roll out the red carpet and get the 'gator tails on the grill. Feel free to bring me as much ganja as you can stuff in your suitcase - but be careful about stuff like cheese - US Immigration and Customs don't like you to import dairy products. Yes indeed, the boy will be along to perform driving duties and to pour our drinks for us. His "Liquid Meth" has become a bit of a Turn 10 institution and I believe he is planning on a production run to rival JPC's Tropicoma output. We will be getting a little more organized this year ourselves. Rather than just hauling up in the Suburban, we are renting a large box truck and will be bringing a generator, large fridge/freezer, gas grill, lighting, hi-fi and lounge furniture. As we all know, turning up at T10 empty-handed is rude and offensive, so we will also have a fairly sizeable quantity of black beer and red meat to share with our American pals, who have been so generous to us over the years. We also have a guest of honour - my brother-in-law, Ricardo, who this year celebrates his first 12 Hours of Sebring and his 30th consecutive 24 Hours of Le Mans. Cause for a celebration. I'm doing a cooking test-run tonight - it's the Superbowl and I'm going to try out some new chicken-wing creations in advance of the 12 Hours weekend. See you soon! We would love for yourself and Seth to join in the festivities at R.R., .. ;D 8) It seems as though everyone has secured their flights and begun planning... 8) I was able to tied down Gish last night long enough to discuss planning and logistics... We are planning to arrive at R.R. sometime on Sat. to prepare... Mark will be arriving on the Fri.... If we need to make arrangements?? Mark, pls let me know. I know that the rest of you arrive Sat 17:00 ish... And will leave it up to you guys when you would like to come out.? As you know, it is difficult to leave camp once you arrive. So we were hoping if at all possible that all of you could arrive at the front gate at the same time? This will help us to coordinate entry, and transport back to camp.. Pls let me know how this sounds... So looking forward to seeing everyone... Cheers, Mike Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: LangTall on February 08, 2010, 04:39:54 pm Mike,
not sure what Mark plans after his touchdown on friday, but the 4 of us Dutchies plan to get a rental at Orlando, grab a bite at the FoF, and then head off for R.R. The 4 off us are all on the same flight, and will therefore also get the rental together. So arrival all at the same time isn't a problem for us. Cheers, see you in LESS then 5 weeks! I'm not sure that I'm able to make it this time, because my work schedule is kinda crazy - but if there is any way, we'll be there. I'm pretty sure Seth will be up for it, come what may. Thanks again, buddy - really appreciate the thought. Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Matt Harper on February 15, 2010, 01:58:34 am It's a shame you can't make it, Rex. From what I've heard about you, you'd fit right in at Sebring. Not to worry, they run it every year.
So, just to recap, Mark, Woolly, Rick and Melissa get in on Friday 12th. Would you care to meet for a post-flight tipple? My current car is just about big enough to fit you all in, for a short run to The Fish on Fire. I need to know now, if anyone needs a roof over their head that Friday evening, so please shout-up. I can accommodate Rick and Melissa or Mark and Wooly (if you guys don't mind sharing a room), but I can't cater for all of you in one go. Similarly, would the Dutch contingent like to grab a beer after you get wheels down on that Saturday? Bob/Jeff, same question - are you hitting the bricks as soon as you arrive - will you need a pitstop for the night? Let me know. I need to let the missiz know what to expect in the way of home invasion, so please give me an idea about your plans. Best wishes to all - looking forward to seeing you soon. Guess we'll manage an 6-6.30 pm arrangement at FoF, as long as knetter isn't wearing his mullet. Then it will take a bit more time. ;) Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Bob U on February 15, 2010, 10:22:41 am Hi Matt. Thanks for the kind offer. I will be heading straight to Sebring after picking up a car at MCO. First thing Thursday Morning I will be off to watch the shuttle launch with Rick and Mellissa and we will need to use my car as the RV will be parked at Turn 10. A pre return flight drink at the FOF would be great, the blackened grouper sandwich I had there last year was bloody fantastic.
Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: smokie on February 15, 2010, 10:50:57 am Thanks Matt, I'm already spoilt for choice - I'm collecting a car at MCO then either going to the track, or to meet George in Fort Myers area, or to stay with George's bro in Orlando then to the launch the next day.
So thanks, but no thanks - much appreciated though! Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Chris24 on February 15, 2010, 01:28:48 pm Thanks Matt,
Although I do fancy the idea of meeting up with you and the Dutch for a drink at FOF on Saturday, my head is saying its not a good idea as I have 140 mile trip up to Jacksonville to make after a 10 hour flight, so I had better decline and hit the road straight out of the airport. Regards Chris Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: tn*c on February 15, 2010, 02:51:58 pm We are thinking of doing River Ranch at somepoint over the weekend but need to back in Orlando on Sunday Night/Monday Morning. Definately up for a visit to the FoF, it's become a tradition! :) I'll check with Julian and Woolly what we are likely to do after that. Might be that Shamrock comes up with Julian's car to meet him so we might head off down that way. Or we might head down to Lakeland where Woolly's cousin lives. Otherwise we'll just grab a cheap hotel room like before! What's the place next to the FoF like Matt? Q1: do they run out of tickets, if I left buying it until I arrived? I think Rex had a hand in this Indeed the Piano was mine, well not actuall mine but came from my dads Masonic Lodge, Hengist in Bournemouth and had been there for over 50 years unused. The timber was very well seasoned and she burned a treat on the Sunday night. A fitting end, from the Masons to the Brethren ;D A big thanks also goes to Robspot for transporting it down along with our lovely 3 piece suites in the Robspot Racing van with the tail lift. I suggest you move around a lot to see what all the track looks like and find your own favorite spots. Visit the paddock too to find your favorite teams location. Yes I know it takes a bit of getting used to the access ALMS allows. Thursday night practice. Schedule your time to go into town for spplies or you will miss something you want to see. See you there Phil Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Canada Phil on February 24, 2010, 05:04:38 am Pidgeon has asked me to remind his CA friends that we will be camping in the same area as other years. Don't worry too much about schedules. Everything is accessible so you can plan what you want to see and do next while your there. Lot's to see and many people to meet. If you have questions, just ask anyone, most people will be very helpful and are proud of our little event in the middle of Florida. Get a program at the gate, that will help you with track layout and will include an up to date schedule for quick reference plus driver line up.
Feel free to ask any other questions you might have and enjoy being a virgin. Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Doris on February 24, 2010, 10:09:16 pm The post I never wanted to write...

My condolences to the friends of Norm. Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Matt Harper on March 08, 2010, 01:44:01 am Goddayam! We did a trial run at the FoF this afternoon - just to make sure everything is in order for the arrival of our English/Dutch friends next week. Let me reassure you that the Teriyaki Wings, Chicken Quesedillas and Blackened Grouper are just as good as they have always been (can't vouch for the Sebring Sirloin, which I think is a marketing ploy to palm off excess shoe leather).
I drank a silly amount of 'merican draft and got a little sunburned - but this is a burden I have to bear in the name of quality control for my Sebring-bound friends. I had words with Jay Herrington (mine host) and he's assured me that you will all get the VIP deal ( i.e. less likely to get shot to death than us locals). BRING IT ON!!!!!!!! Matt, we truely appreciate you carrying out the quality control visit for us. By 'merican Draft I assume you mean "Sex in a canoe?" I am a little concerned to not hear how some of the other beverages are being controlled there. Is the Sam Adams still on draft and being served at the correct temperature, how about the Yeungling? Are the 9th Street Runners Band worthy of our audienece? How is Bob's Dancing Pig? I know it's a bit of a burden but I feel as though we must send you back down there at least once, possibly four times, before our arrival on Friday afternoon! Purely for research purposes you understand :) Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: chop456 on March 08, 2010, 01:44:06 pm I wish I could help Matt out somehow. :(
;D Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Matt Harper on March 08, 2010, 04:58:48 pm It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
When I arrived yesterday lunch-time, Jay was up a ladder fettling the FoF sign. He was removing the proclamaition "Cornholing Here on Tuesdays!" Apparently the local cops had asked him to take it down because it was causing traffic problems with passing motorists stopping to take pictures of it. I was extremely disappointed to learn that this reference to matters of the cornhole was somewhat different to my understanding of the term. Apparently it is a game of skill involving bean-bags - what a let-down. I partook of the draft Budweiser, as they don't offer Guinness. Regardless of slurs about how crap it is deemed to be by you folks from the old country, it still gets you hammered if you drink enough of it - and I don't consider myself to be a beer pooftah, just yet. Unfortunately, today I am sporting a most unflattering one-sided sunburn, rather like Richard Dryfuss in Close Encounters. This, I blame on 'forgetfulness' in rotating myself in order to get evenly browned (like a chicken in a rotisserie, you understand.) FoF have Sam Adams in bottles and I'm not sure about the Jingling because I never drink the stuff. Similarly, I avoid the Dancin' Pig, because I'm not partial to pulled pork - but my friends who are, swear by it. If you cats need picking-up from the airport, I'm happy to oblige, but I'm not a f**k*ng mystic, so let me know your requirements. Those bearing PG Tips teabags, Migraleve and Sure Roll-On deodorant will be given preferential treatment, as always. Safe travels Sebringites - see you all soon. Cornhole is a game invented right here in Cincinnati's western suburbs. Apparently our good 'ole boys in Western Hills get too pissed to safely throw horseshoes, so they wisely decided chucking bean bags full of cracked corn at holes cut into bits a plywood was a better idea. Got to be careful about who you tell that you play cornhole though....
We'll be at Sebring bright & early Sat. morning. Probably hit Ollie Oyster up in Hudson Beach Friday night, best seafood dive I've ever gotten sh*t-faced in, and the oysters defy description. Fax Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: amazing 1 on March 08, 2010, 10:21:57 pm Hudson Beach ?

Tickets cost $25 - $30.
I went to see them last night in Manchester and they were awesume. Have a great time hurtling down mountains, with no brakes, dude. I'm guessing you have your hands full tonight, with the advance party - just so all you folks not coming this year don't feel too pissed-off, we had a tornado warning this afternoon and it has slashed-down all day today. Tomorrow's arrivals may have quite dramatic short finals into MCO - there's a major storm forecast in the area around the time they are flaps and wheels down. I'll rush them to FoF to calm their nerves. Saturday's bunch can look forward to a much calmer evening, back in the high 70's. Would have been better to see them with some BMW fender banging in the last turn going for the finish line like a few years ago with Bergmeister. The scouser's RV worked a treat - despite some generator carb problems that we received various opinions on - thanks to everyone who proferred a diagnosis - even though you were all wrong! The hospitality and brotherhood of Turn 10 was as strong as ever - thanks for embracing us guys. May I say on behalf of the U-Haulers, Dave H, Ricardo, Liquid-Seth, Mumbles, Psycho-Chick, Fax, Mrs Fax and me, heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it so much fun - see you all at a race track, later in the year. Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: Boorish Grobian on March 23, 2010, 02:26:08 am Agreed Matt, great time had by all. Terrific company, racing, and weather. It was fantastic to see Dave and Ricardo again after all these years, and big thanks for the chops and chowder after the race, really hit the spot. To the whole T10 bunch, thanks guys, your the best.
Rick, really sorry to hear about the lost key, things like that will definitely throw a wet blanket on the trip. And in Kirsten's enthusiasm Saturday night she managed to completely tear her ACL in her left knee, probably requiring reconstructive knee surgery in the next few days. True Gentlemen and Ladies every last one of you. A special mention for Jerri. Still smiling and upbeat after her accident despite the pain and inconvenience of having her arm in a sling. Thanks to all who made this another great Sebring 12 Hour. As promised GT2 turned into a great battle and worthy winner to Ferrari who have been bridesmaid for so many years and kept the others honest and BMW not only had the speed but the durability to podium. Thanks to Porsche for keeping the class alive for so many years and Corvette made a rookie mistake by crashing into each other early on. Run with the big dogs requires no errors.

Note the empty track in the back ground ;D Iwanted to illustrate a) how close we the spectators get to see the cars and B) taking good pictures like yors is a real talent. How is Jerri? Phil Title: Re: Sebring 2010 Post by: mgmark on April 11, 2010, 10:42:33 pm Phil,
Many thanks for thinking of me and for the pictures of the As - the coupe looks the best of the bunch, but then I would say that wouldn't I -and nice to see some of them being used across the pond, presumably with as much enthusiasm as they are this side. And a nice picture of the track with some chap in the way too..... ;) I'll post a piccy of the A down at the ACE Cafe assuming I get there this Tuesday evening. MG Mark |
