So, out in the compound we have a late 1960s SAAB 96 body shell that's awaiting it's turn for acid dipping to be turned into a rally car. We also have a neighbour. A certain builders merchants who for legal reasons I cannot name (oops you might be able to see their sign in the photo).
They put some scaffold up yesterday whilst I was at the other site. And what did I find when I returned??

Instead of moving the body shell (it's still rolling), or even erecting scaffold around it....
Yes, look closer. ::)

Closer still?

There you go.
Much easier to cut a hole in the boot floor and put the scaffold through the car.
Beggers belief doesn't it.

How bloody ridiculous... they should have asked access permission surely, I know you need to over here.
Compensation?

I gave them access permission. I didn't give them permission to cut a hole through the floor and erect scaffold through a car though. I don't think that can be classed as a technicality either.
Here we are five hours after I reported the error and nothing has been done about it. Time to call in the journos I think and enjoy a bit of free publicity.

Call the police. Got to be vandalism, criminal damage and negligence.
Then post the photos on the twitter and facebook feeds of the local rags and nationals................................you never know - might even go viral!!

WTF!
Solicitors, criminal damage claim.
-
It's a joke right? No one can be that offing stupid. can they?
-
Si, sorry to say this but I'm not really surprised.
Having been around many large industrial sites / power stations during plant shut-downs (which means scaffolding) I have observed many a scaffolding operative at work and play.
They really can be a bunch of mindless knuckle draggers who have plenty of tricks to ease their daily grind. Scaffolding clamped to similar sized high pressure pipework, scaffolding erected across permanent platform ladders making them unusable etc etc.
Has the scaffolding in your yard been inspected / Scaff-tagged?
-
Hi Si
Might even be worth mentioning that because of the trashing of the boot floor they have compromised / destroyed the original design etc. so you will not now be able to enter into classic competition. Probably wrong I know but worth the wind-up.

what utter retards

I'm gobsmacked !! What total numpties!
-
Si,
I have every sympathy with your plight, I too have experienced scaffolding numpties this week, although it was with a moveable tower structure they built for my contractor. They really are on a different planet.

That would, unfortunately, be very silly and irresponsible and could open you up for all sorts of claims
