Yeth id would.
Imagine, we could park half a dozen trams parallel to the Mulsanne, rip out some seats, install some pumps, coolers, barrels etc, bung in some bunks, get some girlies, have a strip show, get slaughtered ........................I think I better go and have a lie down, nurse.
Now, just to get involved in the project...............(disappears off to plot and plan)

Thnaks for the replies hgb. Certainly food for thought. Agree totally on location/food/beer comments.
Unfortunately I will not make it this year as I'm stuck in Denmark working. But next year, it could be a goer.
Thanks again.

Does anyone have any information about the Spa 24hrs in July. What's the atmosphere/camping/facilities situation.
I'm asking for three reasons:
1) to have a Plan B in case of LM ticket problems (perish the thought)
2) to have a Plan B in the light of, as yet unknown, work schedules.
3) to say, the hell with it, and go to both.
The Spa web site does not give a great deal of information (sound familiar?).
Thanks

Just for info. The tram system still has no viable date for opening yet, so how long the bar remains is anyones guess.
However, knowing other systems, once the go-ahead is given, the civils work (track etc) tends to progress quite quickly.
The system, as proposed, appears to terminate somewhere in the region of the first Mulsanne chicane (Antares). Although why anyone would want to build a tram route to there is beyond me!
Sorry, I'm not a spotter, it's what I do for a living (light rail, that is). If I plan a route, it goes round the pubs but through all tax offices.

How many for God's sake???
What company used to ask punters to send in different uses for their product? Is this going to be the same?

Just a (slightly worrying) thought.

Sorry to drag this away from Gilles' efforts at giving a Texan girl some satisfaction, but.........there was a field for sale on the Arnage road, just before the level crossing (heading from circuit to Arnage) Dunno any more. Now about this Texan girl? Edited due to alcohol fuelled dyslexia

Sorry for the delay in posting, but thanks to pretzel and Russ for the mail addresses.
If jp does pay for the tickets, I'll certainly pay in the required time!!

Anyone know the ACO e-mail address offhand? i think I'll follow Smokie's advice and try through the ACO. I've no regular user status to lose as I've never gone direct before. So, if Smokie gets the tickets I can cancel the ACO, no problems!
I Smokie wants money up front, give a shout.
Cheers

No need to involve us Brits in this. They're doing a grand job on their own. Notice the projected opening dates 2003/2004 and they've not dug a hole yet! Even when they do get round to starting work, there's at least a 2-3 year lead time for trams, so, at a guess you're probably looking closer to 2007 (providing trams don't fall out of favour in the mean time!)

A bit of info, but not much:
"Le Mans chooses the tram: The "Communaute Urbaine du Mans" voted 40 to nil for tramways on rails. (The opposition declined to vote). The project is for one route of 13,5km between "Universite Nord"and "Antares" with a branch to Sablons". The cost = approximately 1,3 milliards French Francs. The system is expected to open in 2003 or 2004."

As I fly home today and madly try to get ready for Monday's departure, I probably won't be on here again till I get back so, to all, have a good journey and a great week.
Oh, and don't drink too much......................stupid boy!

Do it. My lad's been with me nearly every year since he was 5 and loves it. We're both pi**ed off this year cos he's doing his GCSE's at the moment and can't come.
I've never worried about him with such a bunch of friendly folk at LM, or any other race for that matter.
So take him and have a good time.

PS It's good to have someone who remembers where the tent is too!
