1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who, Where, What When 2024 on: April 08, 2024, 08:57:08 am
BSJ again for us this year after lack of Epilepsy availability  Angry - getting used to the 'joys' of BSJ after last year, at least the bus/train is OKish.
Advance party arrives Friday 7th, remainder variously some time before 15:00 Saturday, lol.

....That will be a bucket list item ticked, heading south not north after the race!

Congrats Baz, at last !!  Smiley

Hi John
So when on foot, you have to exit the campsite at the car entrance and reenter through the GE gate with everyone else?
As far as I know, yes. I've only even gone in on a media pass.

Baz,

Camping and GE spectator entry are separated to keep the pikies/riff-raff away from the campers.
6  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Sunday Night Circuit/Town on: March 27, 2024, 10:28:03 am
We always stay the Sunday night, leaving Monday AM is so much less stressful.
Generally pack most things down and leave the tents and 1 marquee until Monday AM, get breakfast out of the way, pack down and out by 10:30am Monday and it's a few minutes to the A28.

....
BoP needs a few tweaks but they do have a couple of races before the big one to tinker with it.

Will be interesting to see how the new wing affects the car in Imola next as it's not a high speed track. Either way there will be some interesting BoP adjustments coming I'd guess.

Merry Christmas all - here's to June 2024  Smiley
9  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: More ACO Madness? on: December 27, 2023, 10:17:14 am
To be fair, the resale site actually works too, we sold a couple of spares via it this year. Once sold the ACO return you the money you initially spent on the ticket and the buyer gets their ticket with the knowledge that it's genuine. We've lost heaps in the past selling over-priced agency GE's (you know the deal, must buy two per camping space even if you don't need them) via ebay just to recover some of the spend, so this seems a pretty fair solution to me.
10  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Get ready to be shafted! on: November 20, 2023, 08:46:04 am
That's why we use Just Tickets. You pay a bit more but get the tickets. They pay a fee to be ticket agents and still get shafted by the ACO.

And that fee is at least €15k (maybe more for the bigger agencies) - that's a lot to make back from a markup on ticket prices and enforced GE purchase all the time you are fielding the complaints (that should be directed at the ACO) from people who don't stand a chance of getting what they wanted/previously enjoyed.

To the other point on people's angst over members creaming off the best tickets - it's not a closed club, anyone can join and whilst I dislike the way the tickets have been sold/allocated in the past few years (and the big percentage price hikes), people complaining that they didn't get the chance to purchase because they were not members seems somewhat bizarre to me as the opportunity is open to all.

What does seem unfair to me, and was highlighted by a friend, is that the member allocation does not reward loyalty where people who joined the day before the tickets went on sale have been allowed the same access as those that have been members for 20+ years, supporting the club through the good and the lean times. One would have thought that some form of reward for loyalty could have been implemented (perhaps allowing 'seasoned' members the option to purchase a few more tickets, or opening the sale a day earlier as a recognition of loyalty?)

Yeah.  I assume the ACO will set up their resale site again.

Resale options already listed now against some of the sold out tickets. Unlikely that there is any availability on them, but the links have been added now.

From the ACO on FB -

Tickets go on general sale tomorrow – book early to be sure not to miss out! 💥
We are expecting to sell out quicker than ever before given the rush for tickets by ACO Members. 😎

Information for tomorrow:

Some grandstand packages and camping passes have been set aside for general sale.
You can purchase up to 6 tickets and two through the Green Ticket initiative.
As ACO Members have snapped up all available grandstand seats, tickets for a new grandstand at La Chapelle will go on general sale.

"given the rush for tickets by ACO Members." - so Monsieur ACO, you mean that artificially-induced rush that didn't need to happen whatsoever? I guess so.
13  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ETIAS delayed again. on: November 12, 2023, 09:45:44 am
Title says it all.
Delayed to Q2 2025.
I'm not holding my breath, this is about the 4th delay of its introduction.
If I didn't know better I'd suggest the ACO were organizing it!

<looks for surprised face> Gosh, whod'a thunk it eh?
14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who's Camping where 2024? on: November 09, 2023, 06:08:55 pm
They could of course make these campsites a lot more popular if the built a viewing area along the Mulsanne which  the public could use with a GA ticket.
Say in that field under where it says Poste 10Bis.
But would be far to sensible for the ACO.

Just noticed there's a Thai restaurant off the Mulsanne.
Anybody ever tried it?

That's where the marshals camp. They also have a hospitality centre there and bus VIPs in & out constantly throughout the weekend. No room for us riff-raff there  Grin

Prairie Huh

It's one of the two new campsites for this year.   Situated inside the circuit close to the first chicane.

It's not that close to the first chicane, it's next to Hippo; you'll need a bloody tall tower and a strong pair of binos to see track action from there  Grin
