Nice little snippet in the news today. 

A McDonalds restaurant was held up at Besancon in eastern France yesterday by 2 armed robbers. 

Small snag – 11 casually clothed, off duty members of the GIGN (French SAS) were having their lunch there. Even though in mufti and off duty, they were armed (it is France after all...)   

Both robbers are currently under arrest – and in hospital.....

After finishing my photography on Sunday I went to a bar not far away for a drink. 15 gendarmes laid out with a beer in their hand watching the tennis final. Next week the owner tells me he is supplying 180 breakfasts every day at 10€ each one. That is a lot of CRS and flics!
