Man, is it quiet here or what?   I had to think hard about posting this - I didn't want to wake anyone up........  ;)

Standard. Start of 2024 will pick up with the build up to the race / looking for tickets, advise etc. Yearly thing

It's the facebook effect I'm afraid.

FB page starts and the banter and info disappears to be replaced by photo after photo, stupid comment after stupid comment. There's one guy who seems to think that it's his own page for his photos. Unfortunately he seems to put them on about 4 pages that I'm a member of.

Same has happened to many online forums, I am a member of Smaxoc, which was one of the best car owners forums I've ever seen. Now makes this forum look busy! Meanwhile on FB the IQ level of many of the posters is about 90 IMHO.

Such a shame, one thing you learn over the years is that progress and tech can sometimes not be an improvement on what came before.

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Agree Barry. Facebook page is a waste of time. It's been hijacked by a few who have probably never been on this grand old forum. Where's the banter, where's the piss taking? Where's Smoky telling us all play nicely? Let's get good old CA back to its former glory.

I miss the guide. I know life has moved on and everything we put in it is now readily available online, but I miss the fun of starting to collect a few snippets and/or snaps to put into it and the fact that we could print it out and have a massive hard-copy tome in the camp to refer back to etc.

I'm not longing for the past, or wanting to go back to those days in a mis-remembered Brexit-style of 'everything before was better before <insert time/tech/decision here>', but it's still nice to look back and remember some of the things we enjoyed back in the day.

The truth is that we're all a load of old farts who remember the good old days of using a phone only to make a phone call and having to dig for any information required.
I absolutely agree though, change is not always for the better.

Keep on keeping on!

Most forums died, shame I love them

I agree. This is one of the few left. The new social media has become a dead loss, unless you like rude jokes, and I miss the Forums - they were a conversation.

Perhaps I should start posting some of my thousands of pictures on FB

Have to admit it, this place has seemed like a little used oasis for a long time so I stopped coming back.

It would be nice to have this have the chat back here.

Most forums died...

But not all......  I know at least one that continues to thrive...  ;)

I confess I only came here (and PH) last year and this to catch up on any ticketing and other LM news and to read comments after the event.  It just surprises me that we can go weeks here with no posts at all.

The joy of an rss (Really Simple Syndication) reader is that I get notifications when there are new replies/threads. Makes life sooo much easier!
