Posting about SpeedTribe just now http://www.clubarnage.com/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=2994 reminded me of the 2 cars entered into a race a couple of years back to get some footage for a "Michel Valliant" movie. There was a red Panoz and a blue something or other - a goodie and a baddie.

What happened to this film? I can't find much at all about it on the web - and certainly haven't seen it on DVD anywhere.

Rob

it is available in france (http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000ZG4OQ/qid=1110039118/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl74/402-1696247-5980925- amazon link)

i heard its not all that great and it doesnt have any subtitles, but i havent seen it.

I saw it on DVD whilst in France for the Monte Carlo Rally. It was a 2 disc edition and was selling for £20. But I wasn't too sure if it had English subtittles. So I decided not to buy it until someone can confirm if it has English subtitles.

Gilles ? Can you shed any light on this.

I have a DVD here, and it's also in English but dubbed.
Bit of a fantasy film to me, storyline goes more towards Batman than the original Michel Vaillant comics.
As far as I know the DVD like I have it should be available via Amazon or Duke.

By the way, the baddy's team was called Leader ;)
Paddy's 2009: Spa LMS • NBR 24 • Le Mans 24 • Spa24NBR LMSSilverstone LMS =(

The Vaillant car was a Lola Judd and the Leader a Panoz both run by the French Dams team in 2002 (todays useless information)
Le Mans is for life, not just for Christmas

Best thing on the DVD are the 2 onboard laps over Le Mans.
1 lap in the Leader (Panoz), 1 lap in the Valliante (Lola).

Rest of the film is fantasy big time.

Imagine a team truck with the cars in it crashing into the water, team taking out the cars onto the highway, race to Le Mans passing normal road cars with dangerous moves, enter the track near the Porsche Curves, setting 1 timed lap and get accepted into the race (without your cars having gone through scrutineering).

Not the greatest movie Ive ever seen (but better than Driven ;D)
Stranger on tour 2008: Paul Ricard (LMS) / Barcelona (LMS) / Silverstone (FIA GT) / Monza (LMS) / Spa (LMS) / Spa (Group C) / Le Mans (test day)/ Le Mans (24H) / Oschersleben (FIA GT) / Assen (GT Masters) / Spa (FIA GT) / Nürburgring (LMS) / Silverstone (LMS)

Hi Stranger,
Anything is better than Driven. Which was shot in Toronto around the Molson Indy. More useless information for to day.

both onboard laps are total reconstitutions...

I prefered onboard laps in the LM Classic DVD bonus.

Michel vaillant is a crappy movie from a LM point of view, but quite a see-able movie talking about car racing.

Mine DVD isn't dubbed in English and² dunno if a UK version has been made.
Le Mans is life, anything before and after is just waiting...

... it's not the taking part but the winning that counts !
