Imagine a new cheap mg 2 seater, a hairy chested Triumph, perhaps a fire breathing Healey.

I agree a new Healey or Triumph would be a good idea, but BMW retains the rights to the Triumph, Riley and Rover names.

When The Phoenix Consortium bought the Rover Group from BMW, BMW retained the rights to the marque names of Rover, Triumph and Riley, while Phoenix gained the names, MG, Morris, Wolseley and Austin, along with rights to the Vanden Plas name outside the North American market, where it is used by Ford-owned Jaguar. Phoenix used the Rover name under a licence agreement drawn up with BMW.

Mine maybe an MG version, but its a Rover 45 with bodykit and some nicer handling parts.

Oh well.

time to support Germany or Poland, say Zig Hile, bowe at Hitler and forget i am british.

Robbo, I'm not one to make fun at this time, but I had an early Rover 400 (which begat the 45). I think it was the most disappointing car I've ever owned. Priced the same as the then-new Modeo, it was a woeful and lazy effort by Rover especially after the quite brilliant Rover 200/400, of which I owned two and enjoyed every minute driving. If it had been as good as your MG on day one and priced accordingly, it might have sold better. And if they'd stuck with Honda instead of whoring themselves to BMW, they might just have avoided the current mess. You'd now be raving about your V-tec engined Honda Civic Type R with an MG badge and I might well have bought one myself.

Oh well, we won't miss these though:

Looks like you could get a grand piano in the back of that thing (probably improve it's handling aswell). I wasn't aware that advertisers were allowed to use the venerable fish-eye lens to make something appear more capacious than it really was. BL - bloody liars, perhaps?

Hmmmm, why is it, the old dog is the only one which has not managed to stay on the tarmac?  Cheesy

A friend of mine lives in Birmingham and he told me he saw a car flying a big England flag with 'Save Rover' written on it. The car was a Peugeot.

Says it all really.  Sad
