Mike,

The rally is running through some of the old classic stages in Scotland. It should be a cracking event with IIRC 2009 Champion Kris Meeke running and also Guy Wilkes ex British Rally Champion entered.

Luckily there will be a highlights show on eurosport each day for those of us not able to attend

Yeah its looking like it will be a good day out.

To be honest I have been following this championship closer than the WRC this year as it getting as boring and predictable as F1. I heard rumours the other day Gronholm could be making a comeback with Solbergs new rally team though.

Looks as though Alistair Mcrae will be driving a Works Proton S2000 as well on the event.

What a disaster of a day that was yesterday  Angry

We left for Aberfoyle around half 6 yesterday morning only to arrive to be told the spectator parking was packed for the 1st 2 stages of the morning. Not a problem though,we'll just head to SS3 and catch it we thought. It was the same and by the time we got into the stage we seen 4 cars from the tail end of the national championship.

Time for a new plan. We asked the marshals if it was worth heading out to try and get into SS4 or SS5,no was the answer so we cut our losses and waited where we were as SS6 was a re run of SS3.

So,there we are,in a prime spot on the stage,a good view of at least 6 fast corners and the cars passing us about 10 meters away and soaked to the skin but looking forward to some good racing.

The 1st 4 cars tear past us before the really fast drivers start coming through. Then nothing for a good 25 mins,not even the noise of a car in the hills. Then a marshall with a walking stick hobbles round the corner to announce that an Evo has rolled and blocked the stage. OK,so how long till they move it and let the rally continue I ask. They aint,was the reply,the IRC boys are refusing to go back and fit their light bars so its just the national thats coming through in around an hour.

F**K THIS! were our words,lets go home and get drunk. 3 hours and a shower later the beer was out and everyone was laughing at the wasted day in Aberfoyle  Roll Eyes

Mike you should have stayed at home the eurosport coverage was pretty good with 2 live shows per day and a highlights package on the Sunday. just seen this on crash.net

Rally Scotland winner Kris Meeke excluded from event after Peugeot 207 fails post-event checks

Newly crowned Intercontinental Rally Challenge title winner Kris Meeke has been excluded from the results of the season-ending Rally of Scotland.

Meeke had taken victory in the event at the wheel of his Peugeot UK entered Peugeot 207 S2000 after an event-long battle with the Skoda of Guy Wilks, but post-event checks raised question marks over the legality of the front subframe on the car.

The suspect part has now undergone a series of further checks which have revealed that it was below the minimum weight required, with the decision taken to exclude Meeke as a result.

The Kronos-run team will not appeal the decision, which has no bearing on the IRC title race with Meeke having been crowned champion prior to the season finale.

“After due deliberation, the stewards noted that Peugeot UK and Peugeot Sport admitted a lack of control in the manufacture of this subframe,” a statement read. “The stewards also recognised that there was no fraudulent intent on the part of the entrant or manufacturer.

“The stewards decide to exclude competitor #1 from the event in accordance with article 158 of the 2009 FIA International Sporting Code owing to non-conformity with the relevant FIA homologation paper.”
