What would be your ideal mode of transport for the drive to Le Mans?

Rules are:
You have a budget of £50,000 per car.
The car has to be able to carry you and two mates together with your camping gear including tents, gazebo, barbecue and cool boxes etc.
The cost of fuel isn't an issue.
Cars must be able to fit on Le Shuttle.
You aren't allowed to tow a trailer of have a mate carrying your gear in a van.
Your choice can include one modern and one classic / historic although you can keep coming back as other alternatives occur to you.

Right, I'll start:

Modern: Lincoln Navigator
Classic: Ford Mustang 1969 Shelby GT 350

An old Dennis fire engine. Excellent beer capacity and no problem winning those water pistol fights.
I'm sure it would fit on the shuttle, they take lorries don't they.

For a modern it would have to be a Range Rover of course.
For a classic it would be an Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake, although I may struggle to find one within the budget
And it would need some clever loading!

I've been daydreaming a bit recently because I should at some stage (probably the end of this year/beginning of the next) get the full compensation for my accident.  I need to be sensible and practical (plenty of space for the cr*p I always carry around in my car) and have a bit of fun before I get too old to do it safely, but not spend too much.  It may never happen but at 30,000€ it's pretty hard for me to see beyond a Megane RS, (as much as I'd love an old Porker.)  250 dobbins for that price and I've yet to read a poor review.

Modern:  Probably something like a Holden Monaro - but things like the Audi A8 are all about luxury, and if I've gotta take all that stuff, I'm never going to fit it in something that's really fun to drive - the next thing on the list (believe it or not given the car I drive) would be comfort...so we're into Audi A8, BMW 7 Series etc second hand territory.

Steve, I'm going to have to rule out the UTE as it's only got two seats (unless your second mate is going in the trunk).

Actually, I've reconsidered.

The Stalwart would be cool, but an SAS 'Pink Panther' Land Rover would be the talk of the campsites and also carry some high velocity pikey deterrents:

My Modern Chairot would be a be debadged VW W12 Pheaton, chipped to Bentley Spec (200 mph apprently).
The Clasic would have to be an Alvis Scopion Light tank, it's 76mm Gun converted in a water cannon, sound AKA Sgt Oddball of Kelly Hero's and with full Smoke deployment enabled. (I would love to know what happened to the Suspension development hack we had at MVEE Chertsey, they took the 4.2 jag motor out of the front and put in a 302ci Eagle motor, complete with headers out of the top decking at the rear! it was used for high speed track and track testing. I dont know how fast it went (std Scorpion is good for 60 mph), but I do remember its awsome sound).
