Betting on Le Mans
« on: May 25, 2010, 10:09:47 pm »
Anyone ever placed a bet on Le Mans. I just looked at William Hill, Paddy Power and Blue Sq and no-one has any odds on the website. But may'be its too early.

Thought it would be a laugh to have a few bets on 1st in class, 1st to retire etc. Keep some of the lesser race minded members of our party interested.

Any ideas. Obviously don't want to go into a bookies in France (if they even exist) as I don't plan to be around on Monday to pick up any potential winnings.

(Does mean that someone needs to keep score (Read - Sober))
Baldrick, my Lord! But I can change it to Ploppy if it'll make things easier.

No one will be sober. hence why using an online account that tells you if you won after the event may be necessary.

Fantasy Le Mans - whats wrong with the real one?

Went to a footie match on the last Saturday of the season.

Bit of a corporate affair, but we all drew numbers and stuck a fiver each in to a pot.  Each time there was a corner the 10 of us shouted "corner!", much to the amusement of the adjacent boxes, and then the pot was passed to the next number holder.  And so it went on for the 90 minutes and at the final whistle the person left holding the pot won the contents.

So for Le Mans you could use something similar for each retirement, be it mechanical or a crash?  That theory will require at least one person staying awake, perhaps whoever holds the next number has to stay awake to get his/her hands on the pot and then wake up the next?

Just an idea...

Im sure if you look through, Betfair will be running a book on it.  If they're not, I'll have a chat to a couple of people who work there and see if someone could sight it as an idea :)

I had a look on all the big sites betfair included but nobody has a book open yet. However looking at the events listed under motorsport it probably is too early. I will check back in a week.

Every footy game we go to we do the corner game. Can turn a boring game into a real nail biter. Also do it with every thankyou during the speeches at weddings. That can get interesting if you have had a few glasses of Pimms. Worst was shouting at the bestman that he needed a few extra thankyous to make. Nobody else at the wedding had a clue what all the raucousness was about.

We've done a sweepstake in the past when there's been enough interested in it.

Might throw that open again on Camp C'Arnage!

I want the porsche.

On the basis that 90% of the field is a 911, it's bound to win something :)
