I know that a fair few of you are heading to the classic in July but is anyone thinking about the final round of the Le Mans series at Silverstone over the weekend of 11th / 12th September?
Whittlebury Hall camping for me I think.
Weekend entrance tickets are £26 advance and £35 on the gate.
I tested negative for patience.

Glad someone's posted up about this.  I've been looking at the website today.

On the booking page it gives a choice of entry ticket, and camping.

The camping is £25, but for where?

Is the actual race Sunday only?

Paul.

No idea where the camping is. I usually camp at Whittlebury Hall, which I will be doing this year.

The race is on Sunday. Qualifying & classic car race on Saturday.

Le Mans - the how you get there is not quite as important as being there.

Thanks Ade.

Sounds like WH for me then.

Might have 2 of the kids in tow, so prefer somewhere quieter this time.

Rgds,

Paul.

Ack - I thought I could make it this year, but yet again its the weekend when I get back from holiday on the Saturday afternoon.  Might try and make a day visit on Sunday en route back up to Manchester as I did once before, but its doubtful.

Sounds like a plan Steve, although having stored our camping gear in France we would opt for a hotel.

Will discuss with the others over the Classic weekend and get back to you.

This is the weekend before Goodwood Revival, tough choice but...there's nothing like the revival.

I'll be taking the Lad and seeing how he copes with a short race before next year at la Sarthe.

Friday: Drive over to Basingstoke for a beerfestival
Saturday: Recovery and off to Silverstone to get drunk
Sunday: Race and more drunkiness
Monday: Time to go home

At least, that is what the plans are so far for me. ;)

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

If they use the same camping location as they did for FIA GT's then in will be just outside the gate at Copse Corner, i.e. a 30 seconds walk into the circuit!
Of course I buy green cars, my Aston is green, my MGB is green, my Disco Sport is green,  oh, that's not what you meant by green?

The Murvi crew are planning a small end of season assault on this one.

Apparently the camping tickets on the Silverstone website are for a site called Woodlands which is run by the circuit, I tried to find out more details but nobody in the bookings office seems to have a clue about it !

We were thinking of getting there on Thursday afternoon and having a few at the pub in Silverstone village, so it would be good to find out if the campsite will be open then, anyone been to this event before, and can give us a steer ?

Sounds about right that the booking office doesn't know!  The campsite has only been in use this year for a few events, and hasn't been used in previous years.

You could always try the general number - 0844 3728 200,  you never know someone might have a clue!
