Anyone live near Paris?

Interested to know what the situation is like on the ground. we're going to paris on the train this Saturday but reading some websites & watching the news the situation sounds volatile

Be very much like Bleu Nord on a Sunday night in June then  they'll be burnin sofa's & gazebo's hopefully not roast beefs

Nope, but all over France it is the students who are causing the problems. Here at Le Mans a college burned to the ground, at Lyons serious rioting and in Paris things are gathering pace. But the usual touristy parts won't be affected, just the scummier "quartiers" full of HLM's (council flat areas where people's skin in the main is well bronzed). This is due to incitement by the left wing Partie Socialiste who have urged the kids to come out and protest about retirement moving up to 62 from 60. As if they give a monkey's - they are just rioting for the fun of it.

Well we made it there and back without too many problems 
Did see queues at petrol ( or Diesel  ) stations had a great time doing the touristy bits & not so touristy like Le Bourget town  walking to the museum. we even stumbled purely by accident on the A.C.O shop.

Didn't see too many signs of trouble apart from the odd protest & cars driving around with their horns constantly going (isn't that normal for Paris  ) we had a couple of scammers trying it on which we just ignored but some-one did nick my wife's coffee she put just under a station seat  we didn't see a thing

I thought it was going up to 67 here as well?

In France you can have an 'early pension' with 60, and full pension with 65. They want to change that to 62 and 67.
