Peter Gethin 1940-2011
« on: December 07, 2011, 02:26:19 am »
One of the terrific, all-around racers of the seventies has passed away after a long illness.  A winner in F5000, Can-Am, and a Tasman series champion, he is probably best remembered for his thrilling victory in the 1971 Italian GP at Monza, his BRM beating Ronnie Peterson and Francois Cevert to the flag after a wild slipstreaming battle, the last GP to be held on the old pre-chicane layout at Monza.
RIP Peter,

Another hero gone.
Makes me appreciate the ones who still remain even more.

No doubt there will be a few beers waiting up there for him.

RIP Peter.

Sad about his death and even sadder I knew less about him

On the great circuit in the sky now.

Agreed.

Parc ferme Peter.
Baldrick, my Lord! But I can change it to Ploppy if it'll make things easier.
