Gianpiero passed away a few days ago. Perhaps not as well known outside of North America for his racing prowess.

Perhaps my favourite race car. The MoMo Ferarri 333SP

I can't say I know the name, but I know the car and agree Phil, what a beauty and with such distintive sound.

RIP and thanks for the memories.

He was paired with Corrado Manfredini in a private 512S in the 1970 championship, so had been driving near the top of the tree for decades. I think he was driving the final stint in LM'97 - our first year - and spun several times before bringing the 333SP home.

First time I saw him was running an amazing 935 moby dick replica at silverstone. 81 or 82 I think.

Maybe not the quickest but never afraid to put his bucks where his mouth was and able to use his wealth to live the dream.

Long live momo, rip gianpiero

Very sad to hear the Momo founders passing.  His scarlet & gold Porsche's, Nissan's, and then Ferrari 330SP's were a mainstay of the IMSA Camel GT, and then the ALMS series, for three decades.
Ciao Gianpiero

Oh yes, happy memories, I saw that too. I think he spun 3 times in his last stint, some of it was shown on the giant screen. Got an extra portion of cheers from the spectators when he finally crossed the finish line.
