Ouch ouch ouch!  Like many others on here I've had my share of ligament damage in my knees so feel your pain.  Good luck with the surgery and the recovery.

It totally sucks that you're going to miss LM.  Take heart knowing you'll be in good company - there's going to be a lot of us about online.

What a pisser. Focus on getting well again Kris. There will be lots of other races, that's one of the only 2 knees you get.

Bugger!  Definitely not pleasant.  But as you are 'Dottore', I am sure you can self medicate pain killers and beer from a comfy chair in front of the TV.

Hope you are back 'in action' for the Classic.

What a bummer.  Knees are the pits - hope it heals properly, that 's the main thing.  Don't try to rush anything as you don't want to bugger it forever.  Do you have a wheelchair etc fixed up?  Sounds dumb I know, but you can hire them from pharmacies here so that could help you to get to a viewpoint for practice on Wednesday.  The end of the MB grandstand is open to wheelchair users so you can still get a few good pics for our delectation!

Whatever, keep safe and see you at the Classic with luck. Smiley

Just got confirmation, ambulance is picking me up tomorrow afternoon on Blue Nord.
Called around a bit, Classic won't be an option just as Silverstone Classic and 24h Spa.  Hopefully back up and running again or the Petit at Road Atlanta  Cool

Ouch! Very sorry it hear about your mishap Kristof, get well soon.  The Mrs ruptured her ACL at Sebring a few years ago, the only evidence of it now are a couple of small scars on her knee from the surgery.  Here's hoping you'll be on your feet and walking around Road Atalnta in October.
Cheers,

Just got back from the butchers office.  Pretty harsh verdict, quadriceps tore off completely.
Will have surgery on Monday, back home on Tuesday and then a long recovery ... if all goes well at least 4 months untull everything is fully operational again.

Guess the 2012 season will be over for me.  Time to take some rest and hit back in 2013, bigger en better than ever !

Good luck with the operation next week, and then with the recovery.

Had a check up with the surgeon earlier tonight ... Rehab is going well, brace has been set now so I can bend my knee up to 30 degrees (which is almost nothing, but it's a start).  In the upcoming weeks that will be increased, so by the end of the month I'll be able to bend it up to 90 degrees, but I'm not allowed to use any strenght on the leg.  Will have to use my brace untill mid august, then start with physio.

Good news, puts up the moral a bit.  Complete rehab will take at least 4 months, up to 6, so still a long way to go.
