Hi Folks,

I'm looking to get my fence moved to the edge of my property and need planning permission to do that.
Since I have no experiance of submitting a planning application I wondered if anyone here might be able to assist or give me some good advice on submitting the application.

Regards,
Tom.

Cheers Robbo but I'm really after advice on what is more likely to get passed.

I've already splashed out on an enquiry with EHDC and was told I would not need planning permission.  But when I asked a fencing contractor he was most surprised I didn't need permission.   The response from EHDC said as long as the fence is two meters from the Highway I don't need permission.  Given there is no footpath as such I assumed that meant from the where the kerb rises.  But further checks seem to suggest the he meant two meter inside my boundary.

So I don't want to spend money on a futile attempt at getting the Planning consent.   I want a 2m high fence but it may be that if I go for something lower say 1.8meter I would stand a better chance of getting the permission.

Regards,
T.

You should be able to get some pre-planning advice from a planning officer within East Hants DC. If you then apply for Planning Permission there is a space on the form covering any pre-planning advice your received and who gave it.

Sorry Tom, late to this one but AFAIK you will need consent for a fence that is 2m high.

The standard is 1.8m, so why not stick up one that high & put trellis on top.

I'm not a planner but I am employed in house building so this is fairly bread & butter stuff for us.
