Vipers withdraw from Le Mans
« on: March 25, 2014, 06:32:12 am »
I thought this was a works effort? Just 80 days prior to the race they find out that they don't have the funds to participate? Isn't there something like budget planning?
WTF ??? ??? ???

When you are at the same time shutting down production plants and putting people out of work, it is hard to justify having a race programme.

Catch 22 for Dodge, do they spend more on racing/marketing in the hope to sell more Vipers, or do they save the money and not get any more sales anyway.

Sounds like the Viper isn't gonna be around for much longer either way.
Of course I buy green cars, my Aston is green, my MGB is green, my Disco Sport is green,  oh, that's not what you meant by green?

What a shame the vipers always put in a good appearance, and the sound was just glorious.

All my redneck friends that hate the French here in the US were really pissed off when the group that first got the Viper to actually stay on the track were the Oreca guys from, of all places, France.

Maybe this has something to do with the decision.

Yes it really is 1;32 before they add water to a Petrol and oil fire.
it flared up repeatedly...like a bad curry.

WTF - More than a minute before someone arrives to extinguish - and then they take water? Don't they train the marshal over there?
What a disaster!

Looks like Ben Keating leaned back in the car presumably to kill the fuel pump but didn't quite manage it.
I tested negative for patience.

Loved the way they initially stopped in the middle of the smoke and flames, what a bunch of numpties. They are only there for the uniforms and should be thrown out of the marshaling team.

What a waste...

Wasn't that a GT3 spec car though running in the GTD class, and not one of the works GTE cars, so I doubt it would have any impact on the works team going to LM or not.

There you go Geoff. Introduce the Facts and suddenly...not much of a story.
I believe you are indeed correct that is a different team and a GTD car.
1/2 a mile away at the hairpin(SafetyPin) for those who know Sebring we could hear the crowd yelling.....GET OUT though I think the drive had figured that for him self.

The NASCAR bozos fired the IMSA safety crews as one of their first acts last fall.

Good review of the Sebring fiasco and the issues with the leadership...
