In the build up to Le Mans, there's been a lot of furious plate spinning with work, a house move impending, and the missus recovering from her hip replacement 8 weeks ago (of the replacement joint she had done 8 years ago which was failing). Or rather not recovering, as she fell and comprehensively bollocksed it and the associated femur last Sunday....... went down like the proverbial sack of and it took an hour just to get her onto a stretcher.
Unsurprisingly, she's been pretty shite in hospital since and was operated on yesterday. Lenghty op over 6 hours, but they've done a great job of replacing it (again) and piecing together the damage with plates, wire and pins; she's in better shape today and will be due release (assuming good behaviour) over the weekend or on monday. For all that knock it, the NHS wins out on this one, from ambulance crew, to A&E, and the theatre and ward staffs alike
Bless her, she's been absolutely unshakeably adamant throughout it, before the op and after, that I must go to le mans. Indeed, I have been ordered to go.. In all conscience, I can't set off as planned on monday but rather, all being well and thanks to her, mates are taking my kit out in advance and I'll head out there on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday by train (having found out that le mans is only 6 hours from home by eurostar/tgv) to join them.
So, in public declaration - I love Deb, my missus.
And I hope to see you all there this year thanks to her
