Parking at Mulsanne

This year, I visited Mulsanne during the late evening.  I normally visit very late.

It was very busy and I asked if I had a parking permit, which I did not, so I was instructed to park back at the sports centre on the main road.

Also, it appeared that there was no checking of tickets on the way in to trackside.

Does anyone know, is the parking ticket new or is it that it isn't in operation later?

I'm not sure, but my recollection is that while you can buy a specific "parking only" ticket for the Mulsanne and Arnage parking, if you have another ACO campsite ticket (e.g. BN, MB etc) then it covers parking at both at both locations without walking from overflows some distance away.

No, it was an "innovation" from 3 or 4 years ago. Used to be that campsite permits allowed you to park in Arnage & Mulsanne, but that changed and you had to buy a €10 parking permit to park there. And, of course, you couldn't buy one at the gate of the parking, it had to be done in advance. I mean, who would show up to park there like they'd always done, and on being told they now needed a permit, want to buy one on the spot?

Every time I go to Le Mans, I'm half amazed by simple improvements they've made and half dumbfounded by the stupidity of some of its operations.

So in future, I need to get a parking ticket. Presumably, it's only valid for Mulsanne?

I'm sure that you don't need a parking ticket for Arnage though. Unless someone is going to tell me otherwise.

Oh well, saved me €10 then. I drove down there on Saturday afternoon - road was clear nearly all the way - but the parking was about 1.5 miles (or so it seemed ) up the road, and we didn't fancy the walk.

I was a bit pee'd off on Friday as I wanted to drive daughter round the circuit as far as I could, but the road was closed. I thought it was usually open on Fridays.

I used to park in the "zone industrielle" in Mulsanne, short walk to the public area from there.

@ smokie : roads are closed from the roundabout at Mulsanne.  Apparently you can 't drive through Mulsanne, Indianapolis and Arnage anymore from Wednesday on.  On friday there was a car gathering at Mulsanne also, using the track from the roundabout up to Indianapolis.

Aricus - you do need a parking ticket for Arnage - it's the same one that covers both. Parking at Arnage is at least just opposite the entrance to the circuit (unless it's really busy in which case it's further down the road) and Mulsanne is a fair walk to the banking, but I can't see any way of getting there than either parking in the €10 area or beyond the boundary, near the top of the Rue de Stade - http://binged.it/1sm6ycR.

Smokie: I can imagine the Flics close the road between Mulsanne / Indianapolis / Arnage to stop gravel or fluids getting on the road surface, but it used to be a real highlight of Friday to park up along there and just watch the world drive by. They started closing that down about 4 years ago, though at least you can still get along the Mulsanne straight to Tetre Rouge & back. http://binged.it/1sm722A

Erm... which parking are we talking about at Arnage??

I usually go out to Arnage for the second practice section on the Thursday night (and did again this year), and park in the car park (field) on the right just past the circuit entrance.  Never had to pay anything.

I think you only have to pay for parking at Arnage and Mulsanne on Race Weekend, it's free on the practice days.

We go every year to Arnage corner including this year at about 4am during the race and have never been charged. We had a car in each car park this year.

I certainly didnt have to pay on the Thursday evening evening.  Slightly bizarrely there was someone on the gate at the entrance to the Mulsanne parking (well about 100yds off the road) checking for entrance tickets and I assume turning you away if you didnt have one.  However there was a kiosk selling entrance tickets once you had parked up and walked to the circuit entrance.

Went to Arnage on Sunday morning aroung 7:30 am, attendants directed us to parking place but no one asked for a parked tickets - as it has been in the last years.
