Someone told me last week that the Monaco GP was on the week before Le Mans, so I checked and sure enough, it's true. I contacted my ticking agent and there's accommodation and good seats available so I'm in. The first half of June this year is going to be a motorsport extravaganza. Awright!

no that might be worth changin my ferry for... if I can get the finances sorted for it.
isnt there a big hill that is cheap and you can see a lot of the track from?
also: didnt the Monaco motor club (or whoever the organisers are...) sell tickets direct (and cheap) last year? Maybe they'll do it again in '04

There is a big hill and it over looks Rascasse (not sure of the spelling). I went in 94 (the race after Senna died) and as I recall it cost around 200 francs to get in. (About £30 at the time). Your on a steep hill in the trees and if you don't get there early enough the good spaces go. You could buy tickets on the day. The sound was fantastic as it echos round the streets. A great day out but a long way from Le Mans.

Check this, official web of the Monaco GP, http://www.acm.mc/acm/acm-intro.phpalso try http://www.monte-carlo.mc/principalitymonaco/formule1/index_gb.html this one gives dates of the next few GP's, this race is special because it fall on or after a religious holiday. I went to the GP this year, it was 2 weeks before Le Mans, the next time it falls like this will be in 2006. If you want to be a total petrol head I think Pau F3 race falls in between GP & Le Mans, driving between Monte Carlo & Le Mans was (in 12 hours cos car broke down & wasn't returned till morning Le Mans started ) far to add Pau would take true dedication!!

Just did a feasibility study into catching ferry on Sat instead of Sun, dropping caravan at LM and tear-arsing down to Monaco. But as it's 640+ miles I don't think I'll bother...enjoy it...

Gilles, what about the Grand Prix de Tours the weekend before LM. Have you ever been there, it's not far from LM. I thought about going there this year. Is it worthwhile ?

I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.
