Marshalling at LM24
« on: February 10, 2019, 05:27:54 pm »
Hi Guys, I have been asked if anyone can help with a query about marshaling at Le Mans. The brother of a friend does a lot of marshaling and would like to do Le Mans, he has been in touch but they tell him there is only a form in French, which I suppose you can understand. Does anyone know differently or can help with any info as to how it all works, is there a waiting list, can it be done through a UK organisation etc.

Thanks
Martini

Hi Martini,

If you are an ACO member, there is a registration process in the members portal, (yep - all in French) where you can register your interest in becoming a marshall at LM.
Beyond that, I could not say what the waiting time / entry selection process would be.

https://myaco.lemans.org/inscription/marshal
(Will need to login as a member to view the page correctly).

Suggest that it might be prudent to contact a UK Marshall association, British Motorsports Marshalls Club or Silverstones Marshall Team?

I used to know a chap that marshalled at Le Mans.  The Brits had a post towards the end of the Mulsanne, near the golf course.

I recall that a couple of years ago, there was a big shake up with the LM marshals, but I think this was just a French thing, rather than the British courses/training/grading system, which I assume you've progressed through.

Contact the marshals clubs CLK has mentioned, ASAP.

Poste 106 was the main British marshal post. The shake up to the marshals a couple of years ago was about the structure of the poste system around LM

Registration for LM has opened, I can ask some of my european based marshal friends about what they need to do

Moments like this make me think of Gord who sadly passed away as he marshalled at Le Mans.

In deed Kev, always enjoyed his stories about marshalling at LM when we all met up. Wonder what happened to his audi Quattro?
