Hi Ron, welcome.

Whether bikes are useful depends on a) what vehicle you arrive in, and b) what you want to see:-

Vehicle - If your'e in a car with tent, you can use the car to get about  for food & drink supplies. A motorhome is best left on site (otherwise your pitch will be gone when you return !  Cry, and a bike is good to visit the supermarket for breakfast etc.
Seeing things : The quickest way to see Arnage, Mulsanne corner etc at night (essential !!) is by bike, as the traffic jams are legendary, and the Gendames are quite likely to breathalyse car drivers (with good reason  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

So if you can, do !!

Hi Ron,
As already mentioned Bicycles are useful if you are camped far from the action or if you like to view from lots of areas. Shopping and exploring the country side etc is great. take a chain/cable lock so you can secure to fences etc. avoid the grand stand area as too many people about to be able to ride. a small back pack for carryig essential supplies ie more beer camera etc. also useful.

Bikes are essential if in a motorhome and do not have a car with you.

Arnage is a must at night but mulsanne was made awkward by the Gendarmes. The road past arnage is one way and the gendarmes will not even let you walk the bike down this road. The detour is over 10km or longer when pissed. I have cycled back from arnage the easy way!
Mulsanne is not that great late at night best in the day but arnage is at its best at night.

I always take a bike due to having a motorhome but be aware the gendarmes always enforce the LAW. I went to mulsanne on my bike last year and then went to ride back the same way past arnage. I was told that it is one way and I would not even be allowed to walk. It made me cycle about an extra 10km in the night with no map!

Arnage is a must and is easy on a bike but avoid going to Mulsanne. Certainly at night I found mulsanne not worth the detour. Arnage however is at its best in the dead of night, maybe go after a meal in arnage on wednesday on thursday.

Was that Mulsanne Corner or the Mulsanne Straight Rick??

Did n't make it to the Mulsanne Straight at PQ so I still have something to do in June!

That was the corner I headed for but was pissed and had video tape of flipping fast cars on a straight when I got back. I did have an arguement with the police on my return so I guess I will never know.

Thanks, sorry about the typo in the title.

As i was going with my eldest, the thought of "dad, my legs hurt" as we marched off to some corner was too much to contemplate.

Bikes it is then.

Regards.

Ron

Jeez,
Looking at that pic has made my eyes water, it reminded me where that gear knob used to end up when you slammed the brakes on.
I dunno about lime green Robbo, mine were red-raw.

Robbo - our very own "Swiss" (Toni) bought them on Ebay just before the new edition was announced. He was going to respray green and create a Beermountain (LM) version, but it seemed a bit criminal as the condition was so good so I stopped him!

Any suggestions for key modifications as they are in our skunk works at the moment - eg baguette holders, water pistol front mounting, beer rack, ice box etc?!

Are original Choppers still darn expensive??? Pre recent re-release minters were going for 600 notes on ebay, restoration jobbies about 400 I seem to remember.

Keep the little beauty locked up at all times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a mk III chopper still, worth roughly 300notes.
ps. 2nd gear still doesn't work. Cheesy

Nice Grifter in that pic too....looks like the mud guard was never used to simulate the sound of an engine!!

What a nice looking chopper you have Mr.Toad Grin Grin

I'm sure that the strap on across the back of the seat warned against carrying passengers, yeah right with a seat like that!
