Greasey spoon required

We are leaving Liverpool on Saturday night 5/6/04 to drive down to Pompey for the ferry, does anyone know if there is a place en route to get breakfast apart from the motorway rip off dives, truck stop or any other place that may be open in the early hours.

There is a greasy joe cafe in Cirencester that is open 24 hours a day and I have eaten there many a time. It is just off the A419 near the tesco superstore. It is a truck stop so the food is cheap and greasy.

What route do you take from Liverpool as there may be a few more options but that is the only one that springs to mind.

IanB, not much along that route except a few layby places. Avoid the useless Little Chef about 30 miles south of Newbury, absolute trash and that is only the prat of a manager... Filthy bogs and no interest in serving customers. Trukstops in Laybys are usually quick and cleanish, if a bit greasy, you never see truck drivers dead at th wheel in laybys after breakfast do you? Do you??? ;)

There will be .....

NOTHING open in and around POrtsmouth, that early ( your on the AM boat ).

I know its little help, but the food on the P&O boats has really improved. Its more expensive but the CARVERY breaksfast is excellent for a little under £9 ( ouch ).

If you arrive in the wee small hours, there are HUNDREDS of places.

i'm on the tiles saturday night, if i'm awakew when GAb parks up, i'll see if i'm able to do Bacon and Eggs. ( but thats very slim )

Ahhhh Beer breakfast......

Phil - you're  up late aren't you???

I'm over in Madrid right now - just heading to the UK shortly and then back to the States on Friday.

You planning on Indy or USGP this year?

Cheers,

Dave
