Camping Question

Hi...This is my first ever trip to Le Mans, I have a ferry booked for the 8th so should arrive sometime on the 9th June (Wednesday) and will be leaving on the 15th (Tuesday).  

Will I be able to camp on all these dates, or do I need to arrange a hotel?

I'll have to have booked for a camp site before You come to LM, but I think it's to late now.
But on this forum, You'll be able to find some camp-tickets.
All hotels are as well booked up

Hi Scooby, and welcome to Club Arnage!!

A camp site ticket for the official areas allows you to camp form Wednesday 9th. You can arrive at the sites earlier (officially from Monday 7th) but you will need to pay a supplement to the person on the gate!

As far as I am aware, you have ot leave the campsites by the Monday after the race (14th) I've certainly not knbown anyone stay there Monday night before and the clean up operation is well underway by Monday afternoon so I would suggest you get a hotel (if you can find one) for the Monday night.

As JBP says, you need to have a permit for the camp istes and getting one form the ACO now will be pretty unlikely, you should be able to find something in the Sell/Swap section of this forum though.

Hi JBP thanks for the reply, I have already booked a campsite along with the ferry tickets, will that allow me to camp on the Wednesday, Thursday and Monday?

You will be fine for wed thru to sunday nights.

I doubt you would want to camp there monday night, it will be a lonely tip by then .

Much better to either get a hotel for monday night or find a tourist campsite on your route to the ferry port.

Depending on your ferry route, I would suggest Rouen, its a large city with many hotels and bars, or maybe Paris whisch as far as I know, has a few as well.

I'm in Bleu, from what I've read it's not the best but it's all they had left when I was booking.

Scooby - Bleu is great for atmosphere - you have the Caterham Club there, plus a few of our esteemed members.

I'd buy a few lottery tickets this weekend if I were you - there's many old stagers who haven't got their tickets of choice, and you, a first timer, get an allocation right away!!

Nothing wrong with Bleu, nice spot to get to most of where you want to go without a huge hike, and if you are arriving on Wednesday you can take your pick of places to pitch. Pop over for a beer if you spot us, no exotica cars wise, a maroon Xantia with a green mountain bike on top, and a Yamaha Diversion. I'm arriving first, early Wednesday morning.
