Le Harve to Gace'
« on: June 02, 2004, 04:15:09 pm »
Which is the favorite route down from Le Harve via Lisieux or Bernay, does'nt look much in it taking into account the tour around Lisieux?

Bernay I would suggest down the N138 the other route will be quieter but lack of Le Mans cars onroute.

Snoring Rhino's

We usually go overb the Pont Du Normandie Bridge, and then get off the motorway, via the first exit. Then Follow the signs to Le Mans. It really is that easy.

This year i will may a note of which route we take.

Yes Robbo, I've driven that route and it's very pleasant.  I think we joined the N138 at Gace.

Good idea to come off first exit after the bridge, the roads are so quiet its as if you are Steve McQueen in the film poodling down to the track......then again who does poodling !!???

First off the roundabout!
I did that last year after crossing the "Pont de Normandie" I found myself missing the bl**dy Le Mans sign and getting absolutely "Perdu" in a small industrial estate. A quick turn around, twice round the roundybout and found the signs for Le Mans. We stayed overnight at Gace last year & drove to the track on Sat morning...

Took two or three impromptu turns along the way (can't be sure we didn't go to Lisieux and Bernay...

Lost in France... :(

...and every time I've come into Le Havre I have got lost. I usually have rushed out and forgotten my maps, so use my "sense of bearing". Which often seems OK here (thugh SatNav helps!) but goes awol abroad

I got my tickets from them yesterday for MB and with it was the rule book for their VIP camping.

Motorhomes and Caravans must supply their own electrics. Their electric system cant cope.
No Swimming Pools.
The Hostpitality this year is a tent at the entrance.
The Campsite is at the end of KN so forget the bus service.
No noise late a night I guess will be next years addition.

Rcutler,

I know the Airtrack can be somewhat questionable as VIP (ie last year we were some distance away) but at least they mark out the pitches prior to arrival. We have tried the 'turn up and hope' a few years ago and it was a complete mess; so we use Airtrack to guarantee we get an area allocated. I was interested in the Club Arnage booking an area for members to camp but it did not seem to get off the ground so we have resorted to what we know again this year. If anyone organises an allocated area independantly we would be more than happy to hear about it for next year....

Snoring Rhino & Son,
Pop over and have a chat on the Ferry and perhaps join us for a coffee and breakfast. Are you one car ? You are more than welcome to take the run down with us. Our group will be meeting at the pub on the approach to the Ferry departure lines...
