if you read the press release rather than just look at the pretty pictures it says:

Aston Martin Racing will also make a very limited number of DBR9 racing cars available to selected customers. These cars will be prepared to the same specification as the Works cars.

so i guess they are selling it

The picture is an impression of what the road version could look like, note road wheels, no roll bars, comfy seats etc.

For a picture of the real racer we may have to wait a bit longer.

A bit more info on this project.

While the concept is well advanced the car may not. Ford are not allowing Aston Martin to put any money into the project (odd when you consider the wheelbarrows full that Jaguar have for F1).

So unless Prodrive have set up a deal in the same way the original 550 was funded via Mr Luc or funded by a title sponsor, not easy these days in GT's, the car may remain a pretty picture.

Some people believe that the press release was an attempt to force peoples hand.

Should the car make it to the track, in 2005 the car will out of the Prodrive team in selected LMES & ALMs race's including LM.

After that the european team is most likely to be Dave Price Racing.

I spoke to the Marketing Manager for Pro Drive at Farnborough.

He told me 10 cars will be built , 2 works, 1 test, 7 customer spec.

The car is in pieces , but should be in some form of shape in a few months.

I have been offered a factory visit, and will take him up on the offer , in a few months.

It is going to happen.

Crash.Net have just released piccys of the Aston DBR9.

Can't wait to see them knock those Corvettes & Ferraris for six.

In other semi-related news apparently Brundle & Blundell are talking about racing together back at LM, hopefully in one of these with Herbert maybe? Just to prove old men can drive quickly? ;)
