Have they broken with tradition?
« on: September 20, 2004, 08:40:56 pm »
I found myself reading Autosport today well it was a long train journey, on page 23 there is an artical  on the change of dates for pre qual next year. That Ok but in the same artical there is a spoksman for the ACO saying that the race is on June 20-21? This is a Monday and Tuesday. Had he just had to much wine or does he know somthing we dont?

Got to be too much vin rouge, or the hack from Autosport was reporting inaccurately (surely not...)

I am now under the impression it will be the weekend of 18/19th - (also the 24th weekend of the year)  although have no firm evidence yet. It has also been reported as being 11th/12th.

Anyone have any confirmation details yet??

Yes - official.

If you go onto www.lemans.org , click onto the english site(so us ignorant Brits can read it), look on the left for "calender", then again on the left "2005" - it's there in black and white; 18&19 June.

Can't get much more official than that.

And that's official.....

Unless you looked there last month when it said 11th and 12th!!   ;)

It has now been confirmed as 18th/19th though. Officially!

JPC,

Are you officially allowed to advise that, 'cos I don't work for the ACO, so the information I gave was strictly unofficial ??

Is that official or unofficial ?  ??? ;D
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

I understand from ACO that it is official for the moment but will not be confirmed until the end of the year. The following is the mail I received from the ACO.

"Dear Sir,

Yes, the date has changed and should be the 18 and 19.06, it will be sure at the publication of the federal calendar.

Yours faithfully.

Spooky for those of you into numbers .. this will be my 24th Lemons 24 Hours on the 24th w/end of the year  :o  ;D

Now if I was a girl (no funny comments like please) I'd be straight onto Living TV and start watching all those psychic/coincidence bollocks programmes that Mrs. Rick watches for hours on end! What a load of money spinning twaddle!  >:(

... but the race week is the 24th week of the year !
Le Mans is life, anything before and after is just waiting...

... it's not the taking part but the winning that counts !

Now my French is not that brilliant (unless JPChenet disagrees), but I rekon that means that it's the 18/19th unless the French government decide to change the calendar.  Relax guys........I think  :-\

This just means "subject to the necessary consent and agreement of the Fédérations(ie governing bodies) - that's the FIA and FFSA in this case, I think.
Put your money on 18/19 June.
