If it's your first year, take anything you can get - MB is great but you will enjoy it from anywhwere (yes, including Beausejour)

Ok I'm sussed, not only am a i a Le Mans Virgin, but i'm also pretty new to this Forum Lark   I'm gradually reading my way through the whole site and getting the idea though, and it appears that Le Mans is indeed the the place to be this summer - especially for us 30 somethings. I dont get let out that often so a camping ticket will definately get me jumping for joy Ive got the diesel ordered, the Barbies in the boot, the beers cheap and the tent..... (well the tent is just a dream at the moment - i must remember to ask my uncle) i just wished that my friends would think up these ideas before the tickets are sold. I hear what your saying about just being there so i will definately keep my options we and truly open. Many thanks Peoples   heres a piccy (i'm the Blue One)

LOL - there u go Virgin - you stand a much better chance of getting a ticket if you sound like a suitable candidate for inviting to the party.  If your friends cant organise it properly get in there n do it yerself... i am sure you will be able to get a camping ticket and any other advice you need will be willing given in the forums.

BTW, a Houx annexe ticket has just gone for £175 on E ***, thats crazy money.

I think that as a novice you really ought to start off with the standard french beer stubbie.... tho the more experienced (and reckless) seems to be talking about progressing onto wine box pyramids this year

Ah yes, but which stubbie?

The classic Stella bottle is flat sided, whereas the slighly cheaper Kronenbourg bottle, whilst although a similar ABV, has a bottle that is slightly curved in profile and therefore not ideal for mountaineering!

There are 5 tickets on that nasty site 2 for MB - wait untill more tickets actually land should yeild a few more spares and more on the market hence lower price.

I see your point JPC, i am not sure about the technicalities of possible brewing under licence, but i dont really consider Kronenbourg to be a French stubbie.....tho i am prepared to be proved wrong.  What i had in mind for City N Guilds Level 1 beer wall building was something along the lines of the "33" beer bottle - a design classic in my opinion tho slighly more difficult to keep a grip on when wet compared against the contoured bottle.

The beer mountain website has some good pointers too and some great pics of guys with choppers. (if u like that sort of thing)

I agree about the 33's Fran.
It's not the best bottled beer at the supermarket, but for many years it was just about the only one, that's if you don't count the dark beers. And they can be hard to count on a good day. So they get my vote purely on traditional grounds.
I'm afraid building beermountains has always proved far too dexterous for us, what with the hand-eye co-ordination and opposable thumb requirements. Sometimes it's just about all we can do to drink the damn things, although we did try and build a beer mountain out of the lads one year. Some of them got a bit carried away if you ask me, and we've never tried it again.
I believe Mr Toad will be delivering several Masterclass sessions at a very reasonable price. Andy Zarse is holding lectures on Bushcraft. (or is it Pidgeon?)

Is anyone elses car in pieces? After a nasty incident on the M1 a couple of months ago I started with a bolt or two and now the whole machine seems to have been reduced to components. I'm starting to get a bit concerned now...

JP, The tops will be off on Sunday night, with Uncle Albert, Sav, Gab, Smokie and Mark.
