Price slump on ebay
« on: May 26, 2005, 01:28:03 pm »
As predicted the price of camping tickets on ebay is falling away.
There are 2 Houx annexe selling for £130 ending Friday, ending just 30 mins later a third is currently sitting at a more modest £35.

There are quite a few for other sites without any bids on, so if you are still looking there may be some bargins in a few days.

btw, BJ and Technopark are still on offer direct from the aco.
Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better.

Last year BSJ tickets were selling for £ 1-3 on the Sunday before the race.

A ticket for MB didn't receive a single bid - the auction finished on the Monday after !

I noticed this too. I have a couple of bids in on GE tickets. Would be nice to pick them up cheap.

Does this make me as bad as the scam merchants on there, ready to fleece a fellow petrolhead?
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

NO

MB ticket currently at £87 with 43 mins to go, a reasonable margin on this sort of site, if you ask me.

I see somebody is trying to sell a couple of Portsmouth - Caen ferry tickets at a "buy now price" of £500.00  >:( Seems a bit steep to me.

Well it depends on what you get for your money.  If it's an Out  Tues Night with Cabin and back Monday then it's about the right price.

I saved £250 by delaying the return by a day.  Though it will cost €90+ euro for a nce Hotel on Monday Night.

Great! So someone who pre ordered too many tickets and is trying to shift them, gets to lose money?

Does this make me as bad as the scam merchants on there, ready to fleece a fellow petrolhead?
So are you saying that all the people selling tickets on this For Sale forum are trying also trying to fleece someone?

Do you chaps not understand that the vast majority of sellers are also fellow petrolheads who are just trying to get back what they paid to ticket agents, and your comments don't help in the slightest.

Dave

This has been debated several times on the forum.

FWIW, my belief is that it is the buyers who set the price, not the seller. So whilst someone may list a ticket to get their money back (perhaps an inflated figure because it came from an agency), it is the unorganised buyers who push the prices up.

The other side of the arguement is that someone who pre-ordered too many tickets perhaps stopped legitimate people getting tickets from the ACO in the first place. And some sellers on "That Site" seem to have so many spare tickets that I doubt that they just accidentally over ordered and purely did it for profit. Even the most expensive ticket agencies don't charge £150 plus for a Maison Blanche permit!!

At the end of the day though, there are rukes that pertain to this site, and this site alone, and that is that profiteering is not allowed on Club Arnage. As Smokie has clearly stated, if you are asking more than face value for a ticket on here, please state why (i.e. bought from Ticket Agency) to save any misunderstanding.  :)

Good point, well presented.
However for all those people who seem to have over ordered, there seem to be just as many who need extras at the last minute.
Oh for a crystal ball!
Happy camping everyone!

All bizzare, a few weeks ago Brittany had a special offer on, i got a return Poole/Cherbourg Fastcraft for £220.00, similar prices on the Caen route.

Brittany are still offering good rates on these routes, out 14th night crossing back 21st early evening all for £230.  Can't be bad, get to the circuit in plenty of time and a leisurely return.

For me Poole/Cherbourg is a longer drive but prolly worth it for the cost saveing.

Of course - all this "get there early n have leisurely return" depends on not having to survive the year on 22 days paid holidays from work.....
